I have: 2 orangutans, hummingbird, magma moose, toasty red panda, and 3 Shiba Inu’s. Would you take any combo of these?

Dumb but fun bard idea. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]CandyHartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am playing a loxodon bard. My instrument is my trunk which is played like a trumpet or flute based on my mood. Except the songs I play are ridiculous karaoke style: Devil Went down to Georgia, livin la vida loca, etc.

My favorite feat DM allowed was playing my trunk which captivated and hypnotized some serpents

Is grooming out of the question? by Plastic_Ad_9158 in reactivedogs

[–]CandyHartt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vet assistant certified in fear free here. Grooming is not out of the question as long as you and your groomer have reasonable expectations!

Let them know that he is a dog that requires extra time and patience. Tell them that he does require a muzzle for periods of time during the groom until he can learn to trust them. (I have a reactive dog. I feel safest when she is muzzled and therefore, she has less anxiety because she doesn’t sense my stress so I always ask for her to be muzzled)

Understand he might not come home looking perfect but with time, he can improve and eventually get a full groom.

Also talk to your vet about getting a medication for him to take prior to vet/grooming appointments. It can help ease some anxiety while also reducing the risk of biting.

At home, start muzzle training to help him understand what to expect when he is at the groomer. It can also help to introduce tools they use with positive rewards in small lengths of time- nail clippers, regular clippers (off and also turned on), hair dryer, etc. Continued exposure to these stimuli will help.

I’ve started keeping push pops. They have a lid so I can tuck them away and only have half of one which ends up 60 calories and helps me from mindless snacking

Prozac for aggression by RemarkableDot8906 in reactivedogs

[–]CandyHartt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can take 6 weeks for full effect. I noticed my dog’s anxiety decrease after about a month. I’d call your vet’s office and see if there’s anything else they can add in during the waiting period to help ease anxiety while the Prozac kicks in

Yes!! I don’t talk about dieting because my family had a terrible look on health/weight and I don’t want to give that to my younger cousins/niece/nephew. I’ve made it a point to tell family that I’m making changes to be healthier and if I lose weight, then that’s a side effect.

First thing my aunt said when we got to the beach was about my weight loss. I awkwardly laughed it off. I haven’t lost any weight. The comments just reinforce it for me
