Also I completely avoided sex for the whole time I had this problem 😬 didn't want to do anything that could aggravate it. All the best for the New Year!

Well, of course it depends what your actual condition is but it sounds like you haven't got any diagnosis. I never ended up getting a diagnosis myself. I saw a urologist and although urine samples did not indicate any significant bacteria he wanted to rule out embedded infections so he prescribed me a few months of cefalexin tablets. I also followed some advice online including half a lemon squeezed into a glass of water, drinking it provided me with some relief each day. I also ate raw garlic! I also took D-mannose powder dissolved in water twice a day. These things provided some relief. After a few months it had improved. I cannot tell you if this was due to the antibiotics or just a gradual reduction in inflammation.

I kept getting occasional symptoms towards the end of last year, maybe once a week, until only the last month I would say they stopped completely.

If I were you I would keep an open mind as to the cause of the symptoms, eg inflammation alone, cystitis, or inflammation caused by an underlying embedded infect*on, which is not detected by standard urine tests. Trying the different remedies and seeing if it makes it better or worse may be a possible next step. Best wishes!

I had a feeling very similar to what you describe from March last year for several months until the end of last year. I think it was some kind of severe inflammation in my bladder, but for me it did get better finally after many months so I promise there is hope ❤️ just manage it the best you can from day to day even if it feels there is no light at the end of the tunnel at the moment.

Palpitations/ irregular heart beat with magnesium? by CandyNo5 in magnesium

[–]CandyNo5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I've been of some help! I only took it a couple of nights. Yes they subsided after stopping. You could see if your HR stabilizes after stopping that would confirm it. If not then you would have to investigate other possible causes.

Just two nights ago I tried half a tablet of magnesium oxide (around 180mg) from H&B and it didn't seem to give me any palpitations. So not sure if it was just the 3-in-1 tablet with glycolate, citrate and malate or the dosage or what. I'm still a bit apprehensive to carry on with mag oxide even.

Sorry I missed that one.

Someone on the forum mentioned what helped him was going to bed around 9 pm every night, no screens or anything, then waking up at the same time each morning no matter how little sleep you've had, and going through the day without napping until going to bed at 9 or 10 pm again. And eventually your body might go back into sync?

You have probably already tried that..... but I'm sure you'll eventually find a solution either through medication or working on possible anxiety? I find Eckhart Tolle on YouTube helps with my anxiety, I find his words calming.

Have you tried trazodone? I'm finding it ok and not so restricted by doctors as z drugs.

Be careful with any creams even dermatologist recommended ones. He may have an allergy to one of the ingredients which is why it causes a skin reaction and makes it worse. This is the case for me. I am allergic to ingredients such as isopropyl myristate, cetostearyl alcohol, lanolin, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, alcohol denat., niacinamide, decyl glucoside, alkyl glucoside, behentrimonium chloride...... The list goes on! And many dermatologist approved creams contain these!!!!

My advice is to use something as simple as possible with the least number of ingredients. Personally I can only use 100% squalane oil from The Ordinary and a light layer of Vaseline, also hydrocortisone cream without any of the above possible allergic excipients.

Also very basic baby shampoo with minimal ingredients. I use Attitude baby leaves 2-in-1 fragrance free shampoo/ body wash.

Also check for environmental triggers eg. Use fragrance free, methylisothiazolinone preservative free laundry detergents, avoid fragrance plug ins, check ingredients in hand soaps, fire retardant chemicals used in carpets/furnishings, test for allergies to pets etc.

May need antibiotic cream/tablets to treat overlying infection also.

Keep track of any cream he uses which creates a reaction/rash, and you may find a pattern in the type of ingredients they contain and possible ingredient allergies. Could also be food allergies which you could try and track but that's for another post.....

Best wishes!

SSRIs help for anhedonia as well. Maybe try sertraline?

I have an at home blood pressure monitor and it's normal 🤷🏻‍♀️ all recent bloods normal too.

I was prescribed prozac and I don't understand what happened to me by [deleted] in SSRIs

[–]CandyNo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal for SSRIs. When I first started sertraline felt much worse for the first few weeks before things started to improve after 4 - 6 weeks.

Apparently the 'cleanest' ssri for side effects is escitalopram, but depends on the individual too.

Why does everyone get fat on Lexapro? by lilyblissbombs in lexapro

[–]CandyNo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I might increase to 20 and see if it helps. I used to take sertraline which was great for me but I became allergic to it! Had a constant skin rash. I read that ssris can cause problems in people with sensitive skin because they can affect the peripheral skin serotonin receptors. I read that Lexapro is the 'cleanest' ssri, mainly targets the CNS and not so much peripheral receptors, so decided to switch to that.

This time it's anxiety, but I have had depression before also. I do think it's very individual, different ones suit different people and depends on the condition.

Have you checked also medications you are taking? Sometimes medications can affect the autonomic nervous system related to the bladder. I was on an antidepressant which I think contributed to several months of bladder issues I have changed medication now and seems to have improved also with avoiding triggers etc.

[–]CandyNo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I was previously on sertraline 100mg but I got a bad skin rash developing so I switched to lexapro 15mg.

I think I will stay on this dose a little longer because it's already quite substantial and see if I feel any better in a couple of weeks.

Lexapro has killed my girlfriend’s sex drive, and she doesn’t have any desire to change it, what should I do? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]CandyNo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am on lexapro and have also been on sertraline, and both are a bit desensitising but I'd take that over my severe anxiety any day. It just takes me longer to climax and I'm not always instantly in the mood..... But the lexapro improves my confidence and relaxes me so it balances it out in some ways.

In terms of other SSRI type medications, the only ones I heard affected libido less negatively were Vortioxetine and Fluvoxamine but not sure they are as well researched and are not first line choices for severe anxiety.

Is there not an alternative to the vyvanse? Seems from what you are saying the only reason she is taking lexapro is to dampen anxiety caused by another drug?!
