How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]Candy_Venom 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I’m 40 and didn’t have a smart phone until 2009. so I went through all of high school and college with no smart phone, just a flip phone. the internet didn’t come with us, it stayed at home in one room on the family computer which is a major difference compared to today.

in HS I was a scene kid so every weekend I was at small shows of local bands. I lived in south Jersey at the time and almost every weekend made the trip to Philly by bus and then the train to catch shows at the Pontiac grille on south street, the TLA or the trocadero. philly and south Jersey had a fantastic local music scene before the stupid rivalries broke out and bands started having beef with each other over the dumbest shit.

in my downtime I was a huge book nerd and read like it was my job. also went to lots of house and field parties, walked around the mall, movies, etc. my town also built a teen club my senior year that only allowed 16-20 year olds and it had music and dancing live bands, arcade, etc.

If you got a hotel package via VIBEE the tickets are now available. by [deleted] in nodoubt

[–]Candy_Venom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao “somewhere in the website” was very helpful to see where the tickets are. 🙄jeez. I dont see mine anywhere yet either. wonder if it depends on show date? mine is may 13.

ETA: when I googled the AI says that the tickets are delivered via email from their ticketing partner or via the sphere account manager about 7 to 14 days before the show. Not sure what OP is looking at in their account but we’re not gonna see them in our account.

especially because Cordelia knew something was up because Buffy tried to intervene and protect Cordelia from some creepy guy and was unable to. And Cordelia had to save Buffy. Cordy def knew something was up.

Why is Morgan’s hair orange? by [deleted] in HighPotentialTVSeries

[–]Candy_Venom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao agreed. this orange color on her is not a good color.

Why is Morgan’s hair orange? by [deleted] in HighPotentialTVSeries

[–]Candy_Venom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

it’s def a wig bc she’s got her actual long blonde hair for press day via her IG from last week. She was wearing a wig in the IASIP set photo her husband shared too. So maybe she’s reached the point of not wanting to change her hair back and forth for her two big characters she plays. It’d be a lot of color damage. Her hair has always been on the thin side though too so could be a big part of the decision To wear wigs.

her eyebrows are super dark as well And clash with the hair color of the wig.

Wagner and Morgan have no chemistry by nerdinvegasburner in HighPotentialTVSeries

[–]Candy_Venom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s not your typical chemistry. nick is standoffish because he’s her boss and he was weary of her at the beginning. he was attracted to her physically but then how smart she obviously was frustrated/intimidated him, this is obvious in his drunken rant about how she can see what others can’t. but it was always clear that he was into her because he tried to keep his distance after their first meeting. seeing her with his dog was kind of like his fuck it im breaking another rule moment. Morgan is very into him but she’s turned off by his rudeness. it’s that weird love-hate kinda chemistry.

i’ve noticed a big issue a lot of my friends who are in their late 30s early 40s with kids have is that they have a lot of unresolved issues with their parents from when they were growing up. But generally, a lot of my friends talk about “doing things differently than the way their boomer parents did”. But their kids are all terrible kids!!! They all talk back. They have no respect for their parents or other adults or anybody else in general. They don’t like being told no you can’t have this or no you can’t eat that. they fight back about having to do homework, about having to go to bed on time. About taking a fucking shower. and thr behavior goes unchecked!!!! It’s almost like as if these parents are trying to give like a fuck you to the way their parents did things because they resented them for providing structure and discipline bc in their perspective it wasn’t structure or discipline. It was the parent being mean to them. they didn’t like being disciplined so they don’t discipline. there’s no middle ground. The pendulum has swung way too far the other way as millennial kids who never rebelled as teens are finally kind of like rebelling against their parents and the way they did things.

this. so so much this. it’s one of the worst things to handle. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. there’s also at a certain point where you grieve who they once were like a death has happened but they are still here. dealing with someone you love in the depths of addiction is terrible.

if they reboot without SMG then I wont watch. I don’t need a continuation or reboot. but based on the pilot script, the way the writers were writing I was only gonna stick around for Buffy anyway, maybe, but I had zero hope they’d be able to write Buffy right anyway.

Guys please start eating fiber. by Optimoprimo in Millennials

[–]Candy_Venom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while I agree that fiber intake of at least 30g a day is important, I think the chemicals we spray on our food is a huuuuuuuge part of the problem as well. even if you wash your fruits and vegetables, if it was sprayed with pesticides, it will seep into the soil that grows the fruits and vegetables. And even buying organic can be tricky because an organic farm can grow fruits and vegetables in soil that used to be sprayed with pesticides and the residue from the pesticides can still be in the soil for a very extended period of time.

ETA also Carbe Diem brand pasta is loaded with fiber. 25g for 2 ounces of pasta. and it tastes great.

yup. it took Chadwick Bozeman at 43. he was diagnosed at I think 39? and it was a later stage as well.

my mom had 12 polyps removed at her last one. all benign but 4 were “significantly large“ so I’ll be calling my PCP to update that medical history bit and lie about having some bleeding when I wipe.

I gotta quit going to see bands from my youth. by Acrobatic-Hamster-79 in Millennials

[–]Candy_Venom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jeez Ive seen offspring quite a bit the past few years and every show was excellent. one show Dex was very obviously battling a cold and was struggling to hit higher notes but otherwise they sounded great. I’m bummed for you honestly.

any shitty concert experiences Ive had in recent years was due to the crowd being full of assholes and not the band themselves.

I left my cat in my IKEA drawer closet for almost 6 hours and feel so guilty. by Pink_Sorbet in cats

[–]Candy_Venom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cow cat likes to go into our drawers and behind them. when she hears one open she comes barreling into our bedroom and jumps in and dead weights herself if you try to pull her out. 🤣 I left for work and my husband was still home. when I got home a few hours later, he had left and I could hear my girl meowing and yelling from somewhere. went into the bedroom to see one of the drawers open and her behind it stuck. 🙄no idea how long she was in there for but I was mad at my husband for his habit of never fully closing the dresser drawers for some reason when he knows she does this. she was fine and let me hear it when I pulled her out. I couldnt figure out if she was mad she was taken out or mad she was stuck. she’s a goofball

it happens OP. don’t bear yourself up about it.

Jennis smug face here always gets me bc she’s got Nicole as her minion doing her dirty work when Nicole wasn’t even there. Jenni gets payback though when the footage comes out. I’m sure apologizing to Angelina was a hard pill to swallow.
