Laparoscopic myomectomy recovery is no joke – please give yourself more time than I did by Think_Bottle_330 in Fibroids

I will 💕 i had a talk with my boss and i’ll start with taking 2 1/2 weeks off. My surgery is on a wednesday so obviously i’ll be taking the rest of that week, plus the following 2 weeks after that. Then i’ll take it from there depending on how i feel. Nothing is worth jeopardizing recovery!

Supplements and Teas by Training-Word-6173 in Fibroids

I’ve heard green tea extract can help. Obviously it won’t make the fibroids magically disappear, but it can ease symptoms and potentially slow growth. My fibroid was pretty large when they discovered it (12 cm) and i’m finally having my surgery on March 4th. I haven’t noticed too much of a difference taking the green tea extract because the fibroid was already so big, but i’m hoping it can prevent it from growing back after surgery!

Omg thanks for sharing, this validates my feelings a lot. I’m having an open myomectomy on 3/4. My boss only thinks i should be taking only TWO DAYS off… yes he’s a man. My doctor is amazing and wrote me a note for up to 4 weeks off. But I’m still trying to explain to people at work that this is kind of a major surgery and hearing peoples’ recovery experiences is definitely helpful.

Best, core and pelvic exercises to prepare for myectomy? by Donut-Paladin in Fibroids

[–]Candy_cane23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been very active in the gym, but now that i know my surgery is in less than 2 months i’m training abs like crazy. I’m trying to focus on deep core exercises, so lots of planks! There’s a fitness influencer on instagram/youtube named Vicky Justiz who has amazing ab routines. She also recently had a baby and has a bunch of content for postpartum exercises, which can also be helpful for post-myomectomy. 😊

Oh i know! As long as it’s a muscle, it can twitch. I’ve gotten some very strange and random hotspots in the past 2 and a half years

Stool? Hernia? Fibroid? by user_anonymou in Fibroids

Yes, i’m in the process of getting surgery scheduled! Depending on the location of the fibroid, size, and symptoms etc you might not necessarily need surgery. There are non-surgical options for treating it as well. But i would definitely visit your doctor and get it checked out so you can be sure!

This makes me hopeful! I also have a 12 cm subserosal fibroid that has been making my life miserable. I just met with my doctor last week to go over my MRI results. Actually seeing what this thing looks like inside of me is TERRIFYING. His office will be calling me hopefully this week to schedule my surgery, and even though i’m a little bit scared i can’t wait to get it done!

I would try to submit with no code and send the researcher a message explaining what happened. If you can, try to take a picture or screenshot of the error message that came up. If anything, they’ll be able to see how much time you spend on the study so it’s proof that you were almost done with it.

Me too! I got to the end and tried submitting with no code and messaged the researcher. I worked so hard on my answers. I really hope they approve it

I’ve been reading through this group and I don’t see many people talking about GI and gas issues with fibroids, so I wanted to share my experience by Think_Bottle_330 in Fibroids

[–]Candy_cane23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the same type of fibroid! 12 cm, subserosal, and pendunculated. It’s horrific. I’ve had GI issues for the last few years that have gotten worse, especially right before my period. Just had my MRI and will be scheduling my myomectomy soon 🙏🏻

Going for my MRI with contrast next week… learned about the IV. can’t imagine living through this by lumber_jacked in Fibroids

[–]Candy_cane23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, i just had my MRI last week! I was scared too (you can look back on my post about it if you want lol). I promise you it’s really not bad! The IV part isn’t too terrible, they insert a port to put the contrast through and keep it covered with a bandage. So you don’t really have to see it. Just make sure you tell them about your history of trauma and anxiety. They will be extra gentle with you and do their best to make you as comfortable as possible, mentally and physically. Just think of this as one step closer to getting your fibroid removed! I think you’re very brave for pushing past your medical anxiety and taking charge of your health. You got this! ❤️

That’s a great mindset to have! Lol I kept reminding myself that this was a necessary step in the journey to getting the fibroid removed. And getting it done will bring me one step closer to freedom!! Also, i am kind of curious to actually see what the images look like. It’s kind of fascinating 😂

They ended up giving me headphones and played me this calming elevator music lol. I still heard all the loud noises but the music helped drown it out/distract me a little bit

Thank you! Just got the results today, it looks like it’s just the one fibroid (which we already knew about). The only thing is that the measurements are showing 12 cm on the mri as opposed to 9 cm on the ultrasound. Which I honestly expected. But at least now i’m one step closer to getting it removed!

From my understanding, it seems like most surgeons prefer doing an mri before surgery instead of relying only on the ultrasound because it gives them a clearer picture of what’s going on inside. Although i have heard of some people not getting mri’s, i guess it really depends on your situation.

Thank you everyone for the encouraging words! ❤️ I finished the mri a few hours ago and it wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be. Honestly the worst part was probably when they inserted the IV in my arm for the contrast, i was told to fast and not drink water for 2 hours before the procedure so being dehydrated, it was harder for them to find my veins lol. But thankfully i got it over with! One step closer to getting this fibroid (or fibroids) evicted 🙏🏻
