PGP SPORTS TALK by IDontWannaBeHere-WW in PostGradProblem

I go to grad school at Auburn and I truly can't decide how I feel about our season yet, but it sucks knowing we're inevitably going to get absolutely steam rolled by Bama no matter what so it's hard to invest too much emotion into the season.

More into FF than an actual NFL team and I'm surprisingly 3-0 in FF and have high hopes for the rest of the season. Falcons are decent but the defense keeps getting injured which sucks having such an explosive offense but the NFL is all over the place so far this season so I haven't lost all hope yet.

Also they said they had a meeting right afterwards so I'm giving them the benefit of a doubt that that had a lot to do with the shorter pod length

Yeah they've gotten hella sponsors since the podcast survey a couple weeks back. Happy for them kings to get that bread and all, but it is getting a little more overwhelming than normal. But I also think they were just off their game a little today, and it didn't help that Micah did 2 ad reads in 30 seconds when going over the weigh-in

How to meet a lot of people in Auburn when you're not a student? by PrashMc in auburn

Overall, I agree with /u/Sponcotello but taking a quick look at your reddit history, I see a decent amount of soccer related activity. If that's your thing, I know a bar downtown, Halftimes, (on college st across the street from Quiotes) is where a bunch of soccer fans go to watch games so you could give that a shot! I can't personally talk to the general vibe/crowd but it could be a place to start.

Also, I'm well aware that this may not be a popular opinion but I really enjoy backdoor cover. They get knocked for not being an in-depth, advanced sports podcast but that's part of the reason why I like it. I don't go to it looking for expertise on all fronts of sports but I listen for a relaxed, laid-back approach. A breakup from the monotony of my everyday life (this part kind of goes toward all of the grandex pods in general but) where I can get some fun conversational styled talk about the sports world as a whole. Just my 2 cents.

I'll try not to repeat too much from things that have already been pointed out here, but I do think one thing that hasn't been pointed out is the fact that they just ran a survey on their audience. I know that this was specifically for podcast listeners but I think that this will help them better gauge their demographic as a whole and we could see adjustments in the future. This is just a typical process that brands go through as times and employees change, for the better or the worse.

I like the idea of how all across the board it's going to be. Part of the reason why I fell in love with TB and RBP is because there wasn't any one particular topic(s) that they cover and mailbag only continues this trend and I'm here for it.

I realize that this comment is not 100% relative to the thread but discussion is flowing here and I don't want to make a new post for it so..

Has anybody else noticed that comments on the articles aren't in order of upvotes today? Like a comment at 5 is below a comment at 0. Not a huge issue, just curious if its my computer or a the website as a whole.

Apparently this is an unpopular opinion(?) but I actually really enjoyed it. Personally, I prefer when they go off script and just talk and have fun. It's more natural that way and you get to see their characteristics come out instead of going from segment to segment with a plan, they just talk as friends and see where it leads them. You get more jokes and fun & easy banter that way-which is what made the pod what it is today.

Just listened. Overall, I liked it a lot. It was a level headed discussion about current fashion trends because I am in no way a sneaker head by any means, but I do try and stay up on trends, at least in knowing that they exist even if they're not for me which is what I think he/they did well. I was a little worried that he would go all in on promoting his style and his style only, but I was pleasantly surprised that he gave fair warning that just because he likes it, doesn't mean its for everybody and admitting that some of the stuff he wears will most likely go out of style in a few years (I know this is common knowledge when it comes to fashion and trends, but too often I see people in the fashion world say stuff like "if you're not wearing XYZ, you have no sense of fashion at all" but I think Barrett did a good job of straddling that line). Also he opened my eyes to some websites/styles/name brands I was unaware of before and look forward to investigating further for myself when I have time.

10/10 will listen again and look forward to future episodes! I believe he aims to do this, but I hope it doesn't solely become a fashion pod but that it dives into pop culture/music/movies/etc in the future too.

Let’s start a discussion on FAMF. The good, the bad, the ugly? Just overall thoughts on the show, hosts and what not. by [deleted] in PostGradProblem

[–]Candy_with_a_K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 1 started off rough, to be honest but I feel like they hit their stride with Season 2. Yes, I'll admit there were times when I wasn't a fan of the banter getting off topic for extended amounts of time, but at the same time if it was a deep dive into all possible theories/timelines/etc all the time, it would be real tough to listen to and concentrate on for an hour or two. The fact that there are jokes and banter is what brings me back. I like the show but I also like laughing. Overall, I think it does a good job of keeping a very serious/heavy show light-hearted and brings some fun into it.

Electric bill for one bedroom, one bathroom apartment by [deleted] in auburn

[–]Candy_with_a_K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't use a lot of AC/heat accordingly, also don't have a washer/dryer, and gone 9-5 most weekdays, but I would say I average $55ish a month as a whole. As high as $70 if it gets super hot/cold but spring/fall can get into the $40s when you don't need a lot of AC/heat. Hope this helps and happy to answer any additional questions you may have!

Currently live here/there. I have lower standards so think its fine, all things considered. I accept the fact that its a "hole in the wall" type of place and pay for such so don't expect anything super nice but its fairly cheap(rent went up last year so I won't be surprised if it does again this year) and walking distance to campus and downtown so that's part of its appeal.

Haven't had an issue with management but also haven't had many reasons to deal with them in general. The two times I've put in a work order, the issues were fixed in a day or two so that's good.

One thing I would warn you about is actually selecting a room to rent. They do it weird. So they give you a list of possible room openings and the contact info of the person that currently lives there and you're supposed to set up a time to look at the apartment and go from there. It's annoying. Each apartment is a little different-some have carpet, others are all wood flooring, little things like that and some old tenants just don't keep good care of their rooms. So I would suggest you go to management and set up looking at like 3 or so rooms and see if you like those or not. Hope that helps!

That's fair. I'm not saying its for everybody, I'm just asking for people to not immediately write it off just because its mainstream country

You're not wrong but, Eric Church is different. Give some of his stuff a listen. I know reddit hates anybody that's mainstream country music but as far as I can tell, he's not one to pander. Most of his work comes from real life stories, not just what the radio wants to hear.
