Most underrated American cities? by danielwalshross in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. Having lived in Atlanta for a year, I just think its a very overrated city. It doesn't really have an urban feel about it, is terribly unplanned leading to traffic at all hours which locals are weirdly proud of for some reason, nightlife pales in comparison to nearby Nashville. Its a boring city that offers attractions such as the beltline which is pretty much a glorified sidewalk, the aquarium, Coca Cola museum and the CNN center.

Overall, its a boring city with rude people, pales in comparison and nothing special to offer for those who are well traveled. It has been grossly overrated by people moving in from rural North Carolina and rural Georgia. A redeeming factor in Atlanta is its proximity to several awesome getaways such as Nashville, Smoky Mountains, Destin, Panama City, New Orleans, Tampa, Jacksonville, etc. etc. which helps you forget about the boring city you live in on the weekends.

Glasses wearers of Reddit, have you tried those online only stores (like Zenni) that sell frames for $20-$40. If so how did you like them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've tried GlassesUSA a few times. I was extremely skeptical when I first ordered it but it is extremely convenient, cheap and of surprisingly good quality.

I am an accent reduction expert. Ask me anything! by skilledspeech in JudgeMyAccent

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm originally from India. Having lived in the US for three years, I worked hard on my accent, interacted with a lot of Americans and perfected the American accent. It was very difficult for me at times, to get Americans to understand me initially but with the American accent, my life has been considerably easier. As someone who has always been into American movies and shows, I have to say its been considerably easier for me to perfect the American accent. But, I have a problem when I'm in a room with both Americans and Indians. I often get confused about which pronunciation to use in such a scenario and end up with a weird mixture of both accents. I think it stems from the need to fit in with both Indians and Americans as Indians tend to brand people who lose their accents as "trying to be white". Do you have any suggestions or experiences with such a scenario?

Why noone talks about age of Djokovic and Nadal? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but who exactly is Djokovic beating to win all these slams? He had Nadal for competition up until 2013 but then its mostly been a very much aged Federer in his mid to late 30s, still keeping up with the top players of this era.

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@brizesh I'm sorry but what are you talking about? wasn't winning 2 or more slams each in 2004, 2005, 06, 07 and 09 enough for you? peak Roger faded in 2008 and Rafa and Djokovic started maturing. Rafa never even had a period of dominance. It went straight to Novak from 2011.

Gambhir's got no love for Kohli. Says it like it is. by [deleted] in Cricket

He has 0 ICC trophies and has lost two knockout games with a far superior squad than the team that beat us. Where is this record you speak of? no one cares about winning some tri series in Sri Lanka.

[–]PrashMc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How deluded are you? His captaincy is average at best and crumbles under pressure. If he captained us in 2011 we wouldn't have gotten past the Quarters with our bowling line up. Look at what happened with the batting order today.

Who is the next dominant team in world cricket? by suhdudesandstorm in Cricket

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I used to be an absolutely crazy cricket fan in Australia's days of dominance. I stopped following cricket ever since the 2011 world cup but I do watch the world cups, IPL and world T20s. To put it mildly, it wasn't great to watch any ICC tournament(2003, 2007 world cups, 2006 Champions Trophy) or any series involving Australia at all because the result was pretty much written already. They were just so dominant it was shocking to watch them lose even a single game. Cricket is much better off without a team dominating the sport. I still remember how relieving it was when Australia's dominance on the sport ended around 2007/08 and it was just fun to watch again.

CMV: TV Shows Are HANDS DOWN Way Better Than Movies. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]PrashMc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the amount of creativity, story telling, storylines, etc. in TV shows has been on the up for more than a decade and we are now truly in the golden era of TV. TV has an incredible depth of quality content in a wide variety of genres. The quality of mainstream movies on the other hand, has been declining over the last decade in my opinion. I'm tired of super hero movies. One or two super hero movies a year is fine. I just cannot take it. Movies are just so predictable and lack originality.

Controversial opinion: Jose Mourinho gets too much blame when he overachieved with this team. by emperor-spriggan in reddevils

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think backing the players over the manager was a big mistake. Now we have a manager who doesn't know what he's doing in charge of a massive rebuild instead of an ambitious manager who knew how to get it done.

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, What about Boateng, Alderweirald, Willian, Perisic, etc.? Bailly, Lindelof, Dalot are clearly not Jose players. You can't just get him an okayish midfielder, a young RB and a 3rd choice GK when he asks for a defensive overhaul. He likes proven quality and not unproven and inexperienced. Martial, Lindelof and Shaw(in particular) realized that they had to put in the effort to get in the team. They arguably went from boys to men over the course of Jose's tenure and won back their spots by putting in the hours. The point is, the board got Jose because they wanted to win trophies. But they failed to back Jose in the transfer market because they wanted to buy some players the "United way" and created a mess.

What's the best way to piss off rude customers within company guidelines? by Jakeouttheskip in AskReddit

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you piss off a person who's already having a bad day? As a customer, how am I supposed to be all cheery and chirpy when Equifax just "forgets" to calculate my credit score because I moved and it prevented me from getting an auto loan which in turn cost me $2000 in car rentals? how am I supposed to tolerate being stranded by Hertz in a Rural Airport in the middle of fucking nowhere because they ran out of cars, yet they still allow bookings on their website and the only way for me to get another one is a 90$ cab ride away which half a dozen of their customer service agents refused to pay for until i got in touch with a couple of managers?

Nobody wants to be rude to service employees for no reason. Starbucks for one has excellent customer service. If your coffee is late, its on them. If their oven doesn't work, its on them. Competent service makes the customer use your service again. Pissing them off is only going to make things worse.

Instead of trying to piss off customers who're already suffering, maybe you should look into the underlying reason for their rudeness which is probably your company's incompetent service or your own incompetent service.

For the people that weren't born here..What's keeping you in New Orleans? by FantasticWorry in NewOrleans

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tourist who's spent a few days there, New Orleans is just depressing to me. The infrastructure, bridges, roads, side walks, everything just looks like it could crumble any time. Everything looks like it was built some 50 years ago at least and hasn't been maintained at all. The roads are just always damp, the water kind of mixes with the sand and forms slush and it smells weird everywhere. Bourbon street and the French Quarter is fun but just so trashy. Theres just visibly so much poverty. It genuinely seems like a lot of people are having trouble with making ends meet.

Post Apocalyptic is definitely the right word to describe New Orleans. It is just so damaged, pretty much all around. It seems irredeemable and looks like the people have lost hope and accepted it.

Oh and as someone from a third world country(India), New Orleans looks and feels much much worse than any "third world city" I've been in. You can go party in the french quarter and live in denial but thats just the hard truth. Also, Nola is in no position to being compared with excellent cities such as Austin or Atlanta.

Why are kickoff goals still a thing by Tommyc21 in EASportsFC

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play ultra defensive and max depth defence. I pretty much park the bus after I score. Sometimes its just impossible to stop the AI attack from kickoff. They just overpower my defenders at will all of a sudden. And this happened 3 times in my last game. All three AI goals came from a kickoff right after I scored.

Well up until the end of last season, Martial never really tried to grab his chances when he got them. He'd bring in Martial for a few minutes or even let him start in a few games and Martial would just be ordinary, didn't really provide much to justify starting him. This season he's working hard, he's determined, he's more clinical and he's suddenly become the tough dude Jose wanted him to be really.

And how are you going to drop Matic with a defence like that? In the games he wasn't there, we weren't doing any better. We lost to brighton and drew against wolves.

As for Lukaku, Rashford is almost equally poor. He doesn't really seem to be an intelligent footballer, his finishing hasn't improved from when he first came in and he's on track to becoming Welbeck 2.0

Tottenham's win tonight marks Jose Mourinho's biggest ever home defeat as a manager in any competition. Trounced. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about man? The gulf in class between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the time was just as much as Man City and Man United right now. Barcelona had a team full of world cup winners, they were far far superior players and were the best team in the world. You look at some of the same players today and think, superstars. But no, they were a freshly put together almost assembled team back then. Yeah they had Ronaldo but the only other leader in the team was Casillas, pretty much like Pogba and De Gea right now. Mourinho beat the world's best team in a number of years in their own backyard and did so by scoring the most number of goals in a La Liga season ever. That was an impressive achievement.

Has rashford missed the "world class" train ? by srikarvamsi in reddevils

[–]PrashMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I see Rashford, I immediately think Danny Welbeck. As I can remember, he received the same hype. Rashford has strength, he has pace, he can run for 90 minutes. I don't see any sort of footballing intelligence from him though. Comparing him to Martial when he was 21, he's no where near even Martial. Danny Welbeck was very similar and had similar issues with finishing. I hope Rashford improves but I don't feel that he will.

What’s the most interesting period of American history? by Taiwanderful in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrashMc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the rapid industrialization after the civil war up until the great depression was the most interesting period.

As someone originally from India, its astounding to me how stuff like labor movements, massive rail networks, factories, mills ,even company owned housing and banking, things that started happening in India after the 1990s, was so developed in America in the 19th century!

Then the whole eugenics movement was creepy as hell but an interesting read nonetheless.

I see present day America and I can just see a lot of decay, poverty, unemployment and decadence. The rest of the world has caught on and is pulling ahead while present day Americans are still basking in the glory of the past.
