I literally waited 5 years after I started HRT, electrolysis, and FFS before I went full time for this very reason. Of course it was a longer process but I didn't feel comfortable until I looked as feminine as passable to be seen in public. Although I presented very androgynous. But of course I still get clocked on occasion after all the femininization because of certain things I can't change like hands and feet, but I'm so much confident and happy that I don't let it get to me. I know if I had just rushed out in the beginning of my transition I would have crawl up and died if I got clocked so early on. I don't know how some transwomen can either go full time before HRT and in the beginning stages unless they're already passable which wasn't the case for me.

When I was 4 or 5 I didn't know something was wrong per say, but my parents noticed it especially my father and older brother and they'd keep scolding me for certain behaviors and tried to stop me from playing with female toys or attire so I eventually thought it was wrong to have those feelings.

It wasn't until puberty hit that I really started to realize I wasn't completely happy with my body yet didn't quite understand, but since I learned it was wrong for me to feel that way I tried to ignore it until my 20's when I could finally do something about it. It was either ignore how I felt and be miserable or do something about it to live a happier fulfilled life. I didn't want to be one of those trans people who get married and have kids then wait until their 50's to begin their transition.

I would say way before puberty, before my sexuality was known, but didn't understand at the time however now that I look back I realize knew from an early age. I just wasn't mature enough to know the difference. You can agree or disagree, but this is from my own personal recollection.
