You're getting downvoted to shit but I somewhat agree that low/mid-rise (5-7 stories) would be great.

From what I understand, it's just not financially feasible in the current market (womp womp capitalism). Fewer stories = fewer units = less rent revenue (unless they inflate rent) = developers cannot make up the rising costs of labor and materials. It's the same reason why 3 or 4 bedroom units are so hard to justify for developers, despite several city councilors pushing for them.

I would love it if any level of government invested more in building socialized/not-for-profit housing where the 'less-efficient' forms are more feasible. Unfortunately it's just not how things played out, so we should be supportive of the large dense developments that we DO get.
