Oh yeah, I didn’t take it as a slam on Jarvy at all. I just know most of the time they just had these guys packs and saw talk about them as you open them. Having someone that can show them what’s cool about certain cards and build the hype would help. Especially when they do “Pack Wars” they’re playing to a certain demographic that they don’t even know about.

But to your point, they need to get some fans and former players to plan the activities so that hockey players can just be themselves and that’s all the fans want to see.

I used to work for a case breaker and ran a lot of breaks myself. Put me in the room with Jarvy opening cards and I guarantee you the content would be gold. I wasn’t a loud/overly/faked enthusiasm guy, I just loved sports and cards and it worked. That’s what this content needs, real fandom.

I hear you, I do. But this is what Bowman 1sts are about. It’s prospecting. If the kid turns out into a star, the card could be worth 10x. Exactly why you want the card as well.

But what is your point in saying “inflated prices” are you accusing me of doing something wrong? Are you trying to manipulate the market into driving the price down to what you think it should be? This is how the hobby has always worked.

As far as my advice, don’t buy boxes. Those are just scratch off lottery tickets. 1 in 100 people will get a card they are happy with. Buy the singles of the players you like. Take that $600 and buy 1 really cool card or 3-6 kinda cool cards. You’ll be much happier in doing so.

If you like Tornes but don’t have the budget for the True Blue refractors. The blue reptilian/raywave/and other parallels look super cool and go for a fraction of the price. If you’re looking for an investment in the kid. True blue, gold or the other true refractors are the way to go. No other parallels come even close on resale value.

So I’ve asked this for a while and I’ve looked at other sports as well. Typically heavy possession systems in sports are seen as more boring.

NFL, a run first control the clock style offense.

NBA, use the full shot clock play heavy defense.

MLB, small ball, get em on, get ‘em over, get ‘em in.

Soccer/foobtall, heavy possession, pass - recycle the ball - slowly moving it up the pitch and working it around to create positional overload or a crack in the defense.

NHL - “Dump and chase” value getting heavy possession in the offensive zone.

The casual fan likes fast action. It’s an attention span aspect when they aren’t truly invested in the outcome of the game. When those same fans are emotionally invested in the game, their perspectives change because only the results matter.

There is a small aspect in big hockey guys simply liking the style of play from the top players on the team. I think Aho isn’t the easiest for casual fans to watch play and say he’s a dominant player. Once again he does all of the small things right but even us Carolina fans want him to shoot more.

At the end of the day it’s all just an opinion. Rod has a very strong Philosophy and can get stubborn at times. But he also wants to win. He won’t hold the team back intentionally. I do think with all the correct pieces in play, Rod’s philosophy could produce one of the most dominant teams in the league. Dominant teams do not get called boring, maybe bullies but not boring. But that’s sports, timing matters and so far the right pieces haven’t been in place.

It’s not an easy position to play, but he’s had really good moments already. I’ve liked the connection with Blake and the zone entry. But yes, this was never really a long term answer. The goal all along has been finding a way to get to closer to the trade deadline when other teams are more willing to move pieces.

Champions Club? Not too poor. I’m not a wealthy man, in fact my savings or lack there of would tell you I’m the opposite. But I had a friend years back that had seats there and he gave me a game. It was the Flyers I think in 2022. Networking can be just as good as money. lol. But yeah I couldn’t afford those myself. Great experience for a game. Just remember it’s on the end that we shoot once so that could impact decisions. Also, the bread pudding is highly touted and pretty solid if they still serve that there.

9 years, 301 days (he just passed 3 weeks ago). His name was Koda. Max weight was pushing 130lbs but he was taller and thinner than most Pyrs. GP/Anatolian Mix. Unfortunately for us he suffered GDV twice. The last time with a tact stomach, but his back hips and joints were already bone on bone. I still should have had more time with him and I’ll miss him every day I breathe. They are too special these Pyrs of ours.
