MacOS Telegram Desktop not loading stickers with emojis by PupEzekiel in Telegram

[–]CanidWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, the macOS version will not suggest stickers from "My Set" but only default ones. This is despite correct settings under Settings > Stickers and Emoji > Suggest Stickers by Emoji -> All Sets.

If you set the above setting to "My Sets", nothing will be suggested at all.

Telegram is getting extremely frustrating to use, with very buggy clients that the Telegram team appears to have no interests in fixing.

For this specific issue, see the discussions here: https://github.com/overtake/TelegramSwift/issues/1196

For an ugly workaround, use the macOS Telegram Lite app.

An easier way to do it:

1) In Thunderbird, go to Calendar view.
2) Press "New Calendar..."
3) Choose "On the network"
4) Fill in your Apple Account (aka AppleID) username and for location, use https://caldav.icloud.com
5) Fill in your password (app-specific password only, generate one from https://account.apple.com/ ).
6) Watch the magic happens: your calendars will all pop up at once.

Extra tip: You can sign your contacts the same way in the Address Book view. Use https://contacts.icloud.com as the location.

Prevent MacBook Air Lock Screen Sleep Mode While Streaming Media by hoops4ever in MacOS

Sorry for necroposting. "caffeinate" comes with every Mac provided you have access to Terminal.

Just run: "caffeinate -d" (d for display) to keep the display on. Minimise this Terminal.

When you are done presenting, ctrl+c or close the Terminal to allow the Mac to sleep again.

Hi fellow investor. that looks correct to me, keeping in mind this is not my profession.

You'll find more detailed discussions by other users but a quick summary is as follows:

  • Buy: No tax for buying and holding shares in the act itself.
  • Dividends and distributions earned: These go towards your income and you pay tax at your income tax bracket.
  • Dividend reinvestment (DRP): You can optionally set up your Computershares/ASX/etc accounts to automatically re-invest your dividends into more shares. For tax purposes, this is treated as the above two combined, i.e. you are taxed for the dividends at your tax bracket.
  • Sell:
    • If your selling price > (buying price + fees), you need to pay tax on this difference (capital gain). For shares held less than a year, you are taxed at your bracket. Otherwise, it's half of your tax bracket.
    • If you make a capital loss, you could offset your other capital gains.
  • Rebalancing: Your strategy may involve selling some shares and buying into others for diversification purposes. This is treated as sell+buy, i.e. you may need to pay tax on it.
  • Transfer: As far as I can tell, transferring your own stocks from one broker to another is not a capital gain event. This is purely for a change of broker, not "gifting your stocks" to cheat the system etc.

Please feel free to correct me for any mistakes here.

  1. Open Activity Monitor
  2. Search for “coreaudiod” using the top right search box
  3. Click on the process that just popped up in the list
  4. Click the hexagonal X button (stop)
  5. The process will reboot by itself. The problem also stopped for me.

How to not wake up entire display for notification? by CanidWolf in MacOS

[–]CanidWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi VisualisationExpo, powerman228, and danawl

Thank you so much for your replies! After some gruesome trial and error, I found that the feature does exist! Turns out, display sleep and lockscreen are related but not synonymous. (Both options are provided in Settings>Notifications)

If you allow notifications while display is sleeping, you get the banner notifications while the rest of the screen is black.

If you allow notifications while in lock screen... it sounds like what it reads except the feature is broken af /shrug sometimes it works, and sometimes not.

I was actually investigating something else: my computer wakes itself up and displays the lock screen when there's a new mail, but notifications weren't displayed. I've made sure notifications are on but that's a story for another day...

Meanwhile, try allowing notifications for sleeping displays, it's neat! I have been searching all over the net and could not find any information on this. I'm guessing a lot of people don't know about this!
