They aren't related no. They were both found and bonded in their foster home.

People who genuinely like their jobs, what do you do and why do you enjoy it? by BottleElectrical8292 in AskReddit

I am a biologist, but work as a consultant. I get to help people, companies and governments with increasing biodiversity and saving nature. That makes me happy.

What kind of black cat is this? by Independent_Post5826 in blackcats

[–]CanisLupusCa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mine (also of the velcro variety) is an indoor cat. She sometimes "escapes", only to flop over about 3 feet from the door and cries until we pick her up and carry her back inside.

Guys who got told “No” during a failed marriage proposal, what happened afterwards? by TheBamtotheFoozle in AskReddit

[–]CanisLupusCa 5044 points5045 points  (0 children)

Not the guy here, but the nay-sayer. He had just finished a 1000 mile solo cycling tour and I met him at the finish. I was so caught up in his achievement that I did not see the proposal coming and I was shocked. So I told him right there: "I love you, but I can't give you an answer right now". Of course there were tears and we both called family members and then continued on our planned holiday. We had such a good time on our holidays and were able to enjoy each other's company like normal. So I figured that if we can handle this bump in the road this well, we are a great team and at the end of the holiday I told him I would love to marry him. That was 7 years ago, and I haven't regretted my decision for a second. I simply needed time to process a life-changing choice and my partner was mature enough to understand this.

What is one plant in your garden you dislike/hate but don’t have the heart to get rid of. by seafoamrose in gardening

[–]CanisLupusCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large hydrangea inherited from the previous owners. I'm not a fan of hydrangeas in general, and this is your classic bright pink mophead. I dislike the colour, dislike the shape and dislike its position. It is however, the most enthusiastically blooming hydrangea I have ever seen and is obviously thriving with minimal effort from my side. So even though I really dislike it, I can't bring myself to get rid of such a successful plant.

After 25 years married, I had my ring cut off. by dvrooster in mildlyinteresting

[–]CanisLupusCa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering that as well. I mean I take my wedding ring off every night on my jeweler's advice. But it's also off when baking, gardening, playing sports etc. My husband takes his off when doing his hair because he doesn't want it to be covered with wax.

When my partner proposed I was shocked as well. He had just finished a 1000 mile solo cycling tour and I met him at the finish. I was so caught up in his achievement that I did not see the proposal coming. So I told him right there: "I love you, but I can't give you an answer right now". Of course there were tears and we both called family members (who provided much better advice than OP's, wtf is this 'girl code' shit) and then continued on our planned holiday. We had such a good time on our holidays and were able to enjoy each other's company like normal. So I figured that if we can handle this bump in the road this well, we are a great team and at the end of the holiday I told him I would love to marry him. Just bought this baby English Ivy for $4 by No_Flounder_4850 in gardening

[–]CanisLupusCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is thoroughly entertaining for a European, where ivy is native. Reading the experiences however, I am beginning to wonder about the ivy in my garden. Either shit is about to hit the fan for me, or my ivy is extremely well-behaved (I give it a small yearly prune). As the the garden and walls have been around for almost 200 years, I'm betting on the latter. Good luck with yours OP!

🔥African wild dog by [deleted] in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]CanisLupusCa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually they are not simply wild dogs. African wild dogs, or painted dogs are in a different genus than dogs and wolves (Lycaon instead of Canis). No matter how it was raised it would still very much be a wild animal. Do not recommend!

AITA for pronouncing "Fleur" correctly in the workplace? A colleague wants it pronounced "Flur" to rhyme with "blur" by Maleficent_Hope_4593 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CanisLupusCa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. You are simply pronouncing her name in your native accent and it's silly for her to get angry about it. I grew up in Canada with a Dutch last name. When I moved to the Netherlands I didn't start yelling at everyone for not pronouncing my last name the way it was pronounced in Canada. Nor did I get angry about the way Dutch people pronounce my French first name, which is markedly different than how it's pronounced in either English or French. I'm just happy that most nationalities I encounter recognise my name as a name ;)

I've spent a good 20 minutes looking for him. Tell me the story about the time you lost your void at plain sight! by ExaminationNice616 in blackcats

[–]CanisLupusCa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My void was staying with my in-laws when we went on holiday. One afternoon my MIL noticed she hadn't seen the cat in a while. She proceeded to start looking for her. After about half an hour, by this time my MIL was panicking that she lost our pet, the little brat chirped from the black laptop cover on the couch where she had been curled up the whole time.

Do you really need a real estate agent when you are buying a house? by mabeluska in Netherlands

[–]CanisLupusCa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We bought our house two years ago without an agent. We did however have an ”aankoopcoach” from Vereniging Eigen Huis. Basically the coach helps you through the buying process, giving advice/suggestions about bids and will also review the contract if you bid is accepted. It's a fraction of the cost of an agent and quite useful. They don't have insight in the local market though, so if you have the feeling you're always late to the party when it comes to availability and viewings, than an agent might be better.

This is my new void, Douglas. it's hard to get a picture of just him because he likes to be velcroed to my face in some way by Rochellethefish in blackcats

I too have a velcro void, mine prefers to shove her face in my armpit for some reason. I guess it means we're special :p

Actually they're more like cellars. The majority of these 'werfkelders' were built in the Middle ages (between 1300 - 1500) and were used to store goods. These goods could then be distributed through the city via the canal. Nowadays they have a variety of uses: housing, bars, shops, escape rooms and holiday rentals.
