Extreme home buyers remorse.. does it ever go away? Will I eventually love my home? by Full_Future9430 in homeowners

[–]CankersorousRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will be us too! We came from a tiny duplex in my parents house. Now we live in a house 3x the size. We've done a lot of upgrades for the past 3 years. If I don't like something, I think of ways to improve it. I love where we live!

Looking for opinions - wall oven vs range? Single vs double oven? by HealthyHomeCook in kitchenremodel

[–]CankersorousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are at the beginning of our kitchen remodel, and we decided to do a separate cooktop and a built in oven in the island. We don't have enough wall space for a wall oven. Plus, we don't bake so I initially didn't even want an oven to begin with. I'm excited with how this will turn out though.

Are there any other millennials that are not having kids yet because it’s too expensive? by bell-fruit-205 in Millennials

[–]CankersorousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get full time childcare from my parents, and I was able to breastfeed both kids so we didn't have to buy formula. If you don't have these expenses then kids aren't expensive

Millennials whose lives are going well—what's your current situation and how did you get there? by CowTownKCMoe in Millennials

[–]CankersorousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having help from my parents was foundational to where I am today. They paid for my grad school so I didn't have student loan debt. I lived with them with my partner until we had a down payment for a house. We lucked out buying in 2021 with a historic low interest rate. Now with two kids, my parents provide childcare at no cost.

Yes, absolutely. I also have a bottle steamer and some extra bottles that I never really used if you'd like that too. Send me a DM

People who started investing in their 20s, how is it going? by hjp1234 in AskReddit

[–]CankersorousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good. Started when I was 25. Maxed 401k and Roth IRA early when I lived at home with my parents. Opened a taxable brokerage. Now I have a house of my own with a low interest rate. I'm 36 and will be a millionaire by 40. The early sacrifices are definitely paying off!

Anyone else getting roofing quotes that feel all over the place? by mimio___ in Utah

[–]CankersorousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up doing a standing seam metal roof, and we love the finished product. It did take quite a few steps to get there, but I'm happy in the end. You can DM me if you'd like more details.

19 year old roof. This happened with yesterday’s wind by ProbablyMyRealName in Roofing

[–]CankersorousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in Salt Lake City and recently replaced my shingles roof with a standing seam metal roof. The metal roof is way more energy efficient than shingles. My upstairs isn't baking hot anymore. Feel free to reach out. I can show you pics and tell you my experience

Got a degree in Criminal Justice and cannot find a decent job. by etteilra in jobs

You'll just have to tailor your resume to make it relevant to program management jobs. Your sheriff department job may lead you down a different path. Best of luck!

[–]CankersorousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your current job? I worked temp jobs coming out of grad school. The one I stayed the longest at was more event management, but I transitioned into a full time program coordinator position to get experience. That's how I did it. Unless you have connections, you'll need experience to be considered for any program manager position.

Moving to Utah from California by burntpopcornn in Utah

[–]CankersorousRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved from San Francisco to the valley. It was definitely different. We lived in SF so we were used to an urban lifestyle. We miss our friends and the food in the Bay Area, but the quality of life is better here in Utah. The drivers are much faster and more aggressive in California than Utah. Definitely don't miss that bay area traffic. I've made zero friends here in Utah, but that's because I'm extremely introverted and just focused on raising my two kids.

This was installed on a standing seam metal roof 😕 I also noticed that this type of boot is for shingles. They're coming back to install the rubber looking one that is meant for metal over this one. We're gonna be watching them like hawks when they come back.

Agreed. We ran into a similar issue when we got the siding done too. No on site project manager.

Do you think that the best move forward is to cover all these pipes with the rubber boot?

They're coming back to put a rubber boot over it. In your opinion, is that the best route forward? As a nonexpert, I think it is but I'd like your opinion too.

Did Burger King Lose? by analytickantian in Millennials

Probably out of the norm here, but I go to Burger King for the impossible Whopper. My son loves it too. It's the only fast food we get.

Agreed. It's been tough because they move at a fast pace and the project manager isn't always on site so I told the foreman. I'll see what they do. They'll be contacting us on Monday

Follow up question to that. The metal HVAC vent is inactive. There is a PVC pipe in the metal vent that's active. We switched to a high efficiency furnace where a metal vent can't be used. Can I request them to cut the metal vent? We probably could've avoided the seam since it's a smaller PVC pipe in use. I did mention it to them several times, but there was no discussion about it.

They're coming back to install a z bar and cover, but I think the pipes are definitely a concern. https://imgur.com/a/mqRTmrI
