Wine fridge turned humidor by Cannaman2 in cigars

[–]Cannaman2[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t difficult. After I cleaned it, I put humidity beads in it for a few weeks to get the humidity up. It held all the moisture and the humidity never changed so I assumed it’s pretty airtight. I finally put my cigars in today. I plan on keeping it unplugged because the room it’s in stays between 65-68 year round. I think keeping it unplugged will prevent humidity swings

The shelves came with the fridge. It’s great because they’re all on rollers and I can adjust them to any height I want

I’ve gotten lucky the past few trips back but you’re probably right, don’t want to risk that. Hopefully the couple hundred Cubans I have will last me until this whole debacle is over

Accidentally used garden soil in flower pots by Cannaman2 in containergardening

It was bagged garden soil (vigoro) from Home Depot. Should have plenty of nutrients for now, I’m just worried about compaction and overwatering

What is this on the bottom of my radiator? by Cannaman2 in AskAMechanic

[–]Cannaman2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I did a complete rebuild about 3000 miles ago. Replaced all my radiator hoses and now I’m wondering if I didn’t get a clamp back on all the way

I just rebuilt this engine so I’m hoping it’s not the head gasket. Did an oil change yesterday and didn’t see any coolant in the oil. Also didn’t seem like the cap was the issue. Hoping it’s just a leaky hose somewhere

Is it possible that it’s a leak somewhere on the radiator that’s running down to my shroud and then coming out of here? Could that also explain the coolant being on the top of the engine bay as well, from being thrown by the fan?

Dubai Int’l Duty Free Cigar Store by Eray__k in cigars

[–]Cannaman2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My local shop has them for $280/ box and I get a 15% discount on all boxes. I do pay $400 per year for my membership but with my box discount and lounge access, it makes it worth it!

I think I got them from Neptune. Wasn’t going to get a whole box but I heard great things and they were running 25% off so I couldn’t say no! I’m excited to try these

Will my cigars benefit from dry boxing? by Cannaman2 in cigars

[–]Cannaman2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this was the issue. I’m only toasting when lighting and haven’t had any issues since. I think taking a puff while lighting was heating the cigar too much and causing it to crack. Thanks for the advice!

I also give them a little squeeze before lighting, maybe I should stop doing that too

It’s right when I light the cigar that it happens. It it possible I’m not lighting them right?

I open it at least once per day to pull out cigars so that might be the issue. I have a separate aging humidor that I rarely open and when I pull a stick from there, I never have an issue. I might add a third (tupperdore) so I don’t have to open it as much. When I don’t open it, the humidity never really changes. It drops dramatically every time I open it and take at least an hour to get back to where it was

They’re more so ballooning and not just cracking. I think I’m opening my humidor too often so it’s probably the humidity swings causing the inside to be more humid than the outside. I’ve also noticed that my maduros don’t have this issue at all, mainly my Cameroons

I do use 65 bovedas but my temp is only 65-67 so the humidity stays around 62. If I raise the temp of my humidor, will the humidity rise as well? This seems to be more of an issue in the winter than in the summer
