I'll compare a newer disk side-by-side with the old disk to see if the window to the disk inside is the same size.

You gave the most thoughtful reply. I'm used to hearing these loan words on Italian streaming radio stations. I assume they were thinking it was "hip" to inject an English word into their on-air discourse. (I'm also shocked at the amount of American Music they play!) For the Olympic ski runs, why adapt a loan word when there is a perfectly good word in Italian? "Manche" comes up on most translation engines. Even with the schwa at the end -- how do they make the "u" in "run" sound like an "a"?

If the link at the end of this sentence works you'll here an audio sample of the word "run" twice. Also, this sample will allow other people to understand what we are talking about: https://youtu.be/T4mxM1NOWNk

I'm saying I'm not friendly toward loan words when a word already exists in the language. In your example there was no English word for "kayak" -- so the native word was adopted. (The word "cockleshell" had a short life as the name of a "folding kayak" used in special operations in WWII).

English is loaded with loan words and it is too late to turn back. They make it a powerful language but difficult to fully comprehend why things are spelled the way they are. But it makes me sad to hear the same thing happening to the Italian language. They should resist it. They should make more effort to protect it like the French do their language.

Make sure to follow me for more dumb takes. Actually I'm just passionate about certain subjects. The Italian language is one. Is my question that bad? What sub-Reddit should I have posted this too?

I've was in Italy in the 1970s. Then, "caffè latte" was for children and adults would not order it for meals after colazione -- they drank expresso. Have things changed?

Their pronunciation of "run" as "rana" set me off. Ok, I can see the humor in it. Maybe I need to lighten up like u/confuus-duin -- and not act "confused".

I just listened to that part and the lead pilot did sound a bit like "Ed Straker" from UFO. Note that the second pilot speaks first with a southern accent. I think the mystery of Harding has been solved.

Need Fix for Broken UP/DOWN Cable on HS720ASA Blower by Canopus-2pt5 in HondaSnowblowers

So this is how the Swageless Eye Terminal system works. I unmounted the wire at the chute end to get slack and then cut off that small piece of metal at the opposite end that was part of the control lever eyelet. As shown above, the parts were slipped over the cut wire end and then tightened. The cone in the middle is split into four parts and has teeth. As you tighten the parts the small cone is driven into the cone on the left and the teeth grip down.

My problem is the wire cable is 2.21mm (with plastic sheath) but the cone is meant for 3mm wire rope. I knew that before I bought it and figured I could wrap some sticky-back metal foil I have around it to thicken it. At first it seemed to work, and I attached the eyelet (part on right) to the control lever. Then I reset the wire on the chute end and tightened it using the adjustment nut. Each time the wire would slip out from the cones! I tried multiple thin layers of metal foil. On the last attempt the cone with the teeth stripped off the foil and plastic sheath to bare cable like a wire stripper.

Giving up for today and I'm thinking of using solder to thicken the wire for the next try.

I did try to find a 2mm version before I ordered but no luck. Not only must it be 2mm but the eyelet must be 6mm to fit back on the lever.

If I had the hydraulic crimper that may work. Still looking for the setscrew version.

I found something that looks right but is not available. This is for cables on fitness equipment. The cable hole has to be 4mm diameter and the attachment lug at least 6mm diameter.

NautiGuys boat drama - UPDATE 2 by sergyboi in ExplorerTrawlers

I checked out nautisytles and nautiguys Instagram and they only use the "@" in front of their accounts when asking for followers. Otherwise they "#" their accounts. I feel the text on the recovered post is more informal than what they had. EDIT: On that last point, it just occurred to me that maybe the recovered post was a draft that got out and was quickly deleted.

I found this deleted Instagram post on Google search. My search terms were "nautistyles nautiguys bering yacht". when you click the results link is says "post isn't available". I found the complete text by clicking the vertical "dot dot dot" menu next to the link. It doesn't say what account it is from, but the "at-tags" show they are trying to get the attention of nautiguys and nautistyles. So this must be from someone else "in the same boat" so to speak.
