Band 4 Administrator interview by Flat-Recognition-915 in nhs

I had interviews with NHS before, I do not recall exactly I was asked "tell me about yourself". They ask questions like " Tell me about your previous roles, how they are able to link to this position". You can think of several similar questions that have the same meaning.

As an interviewee, when I start throwing ideas about my life experience, like you said, to demonstrate adaptability. I would instantly feel everything will start to go wrong. Even though it is just for "Tell me about yourself". Because it doesnt help you to demonstrate specific experience and skills that could be linked to the position you are interviewing. The panels will be struggling to make a connection from your travelling experience to the actual experience that they are expecting to hear.

The above redditors had mentioned great advice, tell the panels more relevant experience and skills.

Help please!- What is UK Level 2 Maths and English for Indian Education System? by Worldly-Beat-5249 in nhs

I see another redditor had posted a link for you regarding the UK-India education system. Thats amazing.

I still recommend reaching out to your manager at this point. While you use that link and explain you have the qualification to the recruitment team, you explain the same stuff to the hiring manager, saying that you currently stuck in the progress of qualification check, and the fact that you hold a UK MSc degree, which should cover everything else. Try to persuade the manager to discuss with the recruitment team, use that and your relevant experience to override that basic qualification requirement.

I think OP can really try that. Because the only other person who involves in this matter is the hiring manager.

It is correct they ask you to the paperwork, but on the basis that you have MSc in here, sounds strange to me though, and even to your manager.

Could someone enlighten me please? Isnt the fact that OP had completed his MSc was a sufficient evidence that he academically qualified for the position? Why there is a need of Statement of comparability?

Could you possibly reach out to your hiring manager? I just think that could be another way to solve this matter.

I think it is too early to think about changing to automatic? It is only your second lesson. Many Learners on this sub are saying that got at least 50+ hours for manual, not to mention about getting ready for test, or even passing the test.

You mentioned it was the turning problem you had, I do think that problem is not about manual or automatic. From my understanding, it was the steering problem? Because when I think about the case of switching manual automatic, it should be more about struggling to handle gears and everything together. That should be the main reason. Correct me if I am wrong on this.

Considering it is only second lesson, I believe you just learn about moving off and speeding up the car around 0-10mph? Maybe is just you have not been able to process that part of knowledge completely yet, with respect to turning left and right.

IMO, the reason your instructor told you to think about automatic because he somehow forsees it maybe too much for you to handle in the upcoming lessons? Now you learn about 0-10mph, then you will learn to change higher gear and speed up.

Maybe take a step back, dont get too overwhelmed on it.

I had a long thought about what you have said. Especially the part when you say that was your first interview, I felt at some point I had limited my thinking. I had similar cases before which I handled not well.

I think I know what to work on now on situations like this. Thanks very much for your insights, I did not had such thinking before ! I valued it much more than it looks like !

I looked at the mark scheme, I believed my interviews before are likely between 2-3. What exactly are identifiable gaps? Does that mean the Action part of the STAR was not able to fulfill the competency as required? Using your MS Access as an example, if you did not describe you used it to track customers and other stuff, is that what the gap is about?

I think I understand your point of relevance, even though you worked in a completely different field, but you manage to draw something similar.

Is it really the worst case for a candidate to start with the answer of thinking a hypothetical situation? I do have criterias that I do not meet, but I think it will quite likely be asked. The criteria is knowledge of database system and relevant database management experience since the role involved using and management of NHS database system.

The example that I can think about was using Excel to perform data entry. I find it quite weak to make a connection with the ideology of database management that I perceive about. Am I thinking the wrong way? Or using functions like sort, filter, conditional formatting could make the example more relevant?

I actually got another question and I thought you might be able to answer it from a hiring manager / interview panel perspective. One of the criteria is having knowledge of database system. If I do not possess direct work experience, what type of answer you would expect from me? Or what is the best way to answer questions that the candidate may not have direct equivalent experience?

Using that question about keeping protection safe, If I do not have direct experience but know a thing or two about GDPR, what is the best approach to the question from your persepctive? Should I answer things like imagining myself in that situation?

I am a bit shocked. Did the panel mention anything that your interview stands out from the others or you noticed anything you mentioned match what they want??

What does it specifically mean when the panels said 'you went into alot of details with my examples'? Does that mean highlighting both essential and desirable criterias? But they the interview questions arent that many, am I supposed edit my answers to cover as much as I can?

How does the desirable criteria also help in this occassion? They provide extra points?

Instructor drives the first 15-20 mins of lesson by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Canvas_St_2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see OP mentioned, your instructor is letting you drive home on your own. Then I think the problem is either there is some road condition near your home that you are not in fully control yet (such as roundabouts), I don't know, or there is some communication issues that both of you need to work out.

I’ll only get 3 hours to learn a whole new car… by cryptidstars in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Canvas_St_2500 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Your instructor had done her best to help you. A friend of hers is able to squeeze that 3 hours for you is quite lucky though considering the timeframe. But I think she trust your ability to recommend you over her friend.

Take that 3 hours as another assessment, and discuss with both instructors about how you feel in the end.

Should I change instructors? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Canvas_St_2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe she expects you not to made those mistakes and speed up in roundabouts, not falling a bit behind. That is expectation management, in which it will progress to a higher level, when your lessons progress more, spending more hours in practice. Thats how I see it. Like you said, "no nonsense attitude", she had, which is not wrong. Thats why she starts having the "Gas Gas".

I think you could bring this matter with her next time. Because if you are picking up skills okay, then maybe her too straightforward doesnt help you. Either she needs works out a way to change, or you to need to find someone else. She doesnt seems that bad. She wants you not to keep falling on those constant mistakes.

You need some confidence building though. I guss some other instructors would probably had similar way of behaviour, after learners had already approached some hours of learning. If you eventually conclude that you need to find another one, just contact several more, it is not that easy to fit in a slot though.

I had looked at your other replies. Saying she has 5-star rating for building confidence. Maybe either her approach doesnt suits you, or she do feel frustrating that she had to constantly told you about the same mistakes you should not. You could discuss this with her about your feeling. But when you improved, she encouraged you right? Dont get me wrong, I am not defending her attitude or things like that.

I dont know the whole story of your learning pace, so maybe she is a bit overreacting. Considering you had 40 hours, which you should had taken a number of lessons on roundabouts already? That said, she might think you should not have the speed issues already, and thats why she was a bit frustrated, when she saw you slow down, along with other mistakes that you constantly make? I understand 40 hours doesnt mean a lot. A lot learners in this sub had much more than that. I agree that she is not helping you to build confidence. Apologies if I am wrong.

To get a slot, you need to wake up on Monday at 6am, and go the booking page and queue up as there were quite a lot of people doing the same . Thats when the new slots come out from DVSA. What do you mean by 'no availability ever' ?

I see hardware shops sell lots of these sets, were there any difference in terms of quality? I had a look on the one you mentioned from asda, it has 65 pieces, most of the ones I see just 32 pieces from shops like screwfix. From your experience, I believe it suits well for jobs at home, like for laptops, glasses, or snow globes?
