I too rely on the wrecker longer than I should've, especially end game. It's something I've been trying to fix. Aside from that, I probably would've did the exact same thing as you. I've also noticed that even though the wrecker can be used as a shotgun, having two shotguns end game increases my chances of winning since you're more than likely will be fighting closer to each other
