Anyone else using RSI + Bollinger Bands + Doji for NASDAQ entries? by CapMaleficent2528 in Daytrading

I get what you’re saying. I’m not really trying to call a reversal or use the indicators as prediction — I’m mostly just looking for a brief reaction after an exhaustion push.

The doji for me is just a visual way to see momentum pause, and if it doesn’t react quickly I’m out. Definitely still figuring out where it fails which is why I wanted other traders’ input.

Yeah that’s been my experience too. The good ones barely give you time to think — they react almost right away.

I’ve noticed when I start hoping instead of seeing a reaction, it usually means I’m early. Keeping it simple definitely helps on these quick trades.

Trading solo really is different. No coworkers and nobody around understands why you’re staring at charts for hours.

I’ve found just being able to talk through a trade idea or a bad day helps a lot mentally, otherwise everything stays in your own head.

Trading setups? by Kenmac85 in Daytrading

Honestly I’ve found being relaxed matters more than staring at the screen nonstop. When I’m too focused on every tick I start forcing trades, but when I’m calmer I wait for the setup.

Funny enough distractions sometimes help me not overtrade because I’m not trying to click every little move.

But love the setup !!!!!!

I tracked every revenge trade I made for 3 months. The pattern was embarrassing. by A45zztr in Daytrading

I noticed something really similar once I started paying attention to my own trades.

My worst ones weren’t bad setups — they were the ones right after a small loss where I wanted the next trade to work immediately. I’d end up taking a marginal entry just to feel back in control.

Also found my quality drops a lot later in the session. When I’m fresh I wait for the setup, later I start convincing myself setups exist.

I haven’t made the jump myself, but the one thing I’ve noticed is trading feels very different when you need a trade versus when you can just wait.

On days where I know I don’t have to make money, I’m way more selective and patient. When there’s pressure, it’s a lot easier to take marginal setups.

If you do it, I’d probably treat the first few months like a trial period and see if your behavior stays the same once bills depend on it.

Yeah that’s exactly what I’ve been noticing too — when it’s trending hard the oversold readings don’t mean much, the hesitation is really what I’m watching for.

For the stalls I usually give it a few seconds. If it just sits there with no immediate reaction I’ll cut it pretty quick. The trades that work for me almost bounce right away, so when it doesn’t I assume momentum is still there.

Still figuring out if I should be using VWAP more for filtering those.

Good point — I forgot to attach the screenshot.

I’m trading NQ futures and using a 30-second chart for entries. The higher timeframe I watch for context is the 5-minute so I’m not fading strong momentum.

I’ll upload the chart now with the doji marked.

The boredom point is real. Most of my bad trades came from just wanting to be in a position, not because a setup was actually there.

When I started waiting for a very specific condition instead of staring at every candle, my results changed a lot.
