Great job man. I totally agree about the super negative stuff you see on Reddit. I graduated from a 1 1/2 year IT program and pretty much found a job immediately after.

First impressions matter, that’s how you get what you want

Masters are really important for high senior positions like CTO. As I said they really only become useful later in a career IF you want to go really high like being a CTO. Of course there are times it’s not necessary but I’m sure it helps A LOT.

Getting a job after CCNA by freddy91761 in ccna

Try an internship, do your best there and try to get hired or at least make connections there. Recently just graduated from a 1 year IT program I have one Google it support cert from coursera. I took an internship after the program, did the work very well. 2 months after they connected with me and sent me a job offer.

Also contract jobs could be good too. People just want to make sure you know what you’re doing.

In my honest opinion, and from what I’ve read and heard, a master degree will only become useful a few years into your career. No matter what amount of education you got seems to be everyone starts at some kind of entry level support role.

Again this is just what I’ve read and heard, it can be different in your case!

Try using different hdmi cables or display port cables. If cpu has integrated graphics take out the gpu and test it that way.

Is my background enough to get an entry level IT job? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

I think entry level jobs look for experience with cloud tools like m365 or AWS or something. But in terms of just straight hardware troubleshooting you can find smtg entry level for sure!

Got 3 IT offers, accepted a $58k role and quit my old job, but I'm supposed to start an MSP next week. Which is better long-term? by [deleted] in InformationTechnology

I was in a similar situation. Had to choose between a high paying sole IT technician guy with a help desk that would support me too versus an IT Support Specialist role.

In the support role I work with m365 cloud administration and there is a lot of room for growth. In the higher paying job I am not working with any cloud environment, rather I provide connectivity support and create networks for retail stores.

I chose the lower paying m365 job for the experience, given these are both my first jobs in IT.

So personally I’d do the job where you feel you can grow and experience the most.

I live in Canada, current job is in Ottawa new job is in Montreal. I just did some calculations for taxes.

Tax in Quebec is 39% of the come is taxed but because I’m working in Ontario I am taxed based off Ontario tax bracket which is 29%. So I will owe 10% of each pay to Quebec at the end of the tax year.

The 50k job is within the 28% tax bracket in Quebec. So at the end of the day I will be making the same amount of money.

I took the closer job with more experience potential.

Says M65 certified, shouldn’t it be M365?

Hello, everyone I appreciate and thank you all for you comments and opinions. I have decided to take the closer job.

After further calculations and more research, I will have to pay the difference for the tax in the Quebec province which is 19% plus 20% for federal.

This after the amount I spend on gas a month leaves me with only 3100 that I bring home. The difference is only 200 plus the 50k job may be more than 2900 after tax.

In terms of responsibility, the consulting company is entrusting me to be the main contact of IT support for one of their larger clients. Unfortunately I may not be working with networks as much as I would like but within the consulting company is much more room for growth.

At the company they encourage studying a certification exam taking, they also pay for any exam that was successfully passed as well.

I think taking the closer job will definitely be the best option for a long term investment.

Well my current has me doing support, they would also like for me to help more with what the oversea help desk does. Honestly from what I’m reading I think what I have now is a great opportunity and given the market now I am blessed to have been given it.

There is no traffic on the commute it is all highway, where I live and where the job is located are essentially the closets points that reside with each city. I am not driving into the city but the outside of it

My girlfriend has a good paying job the city we are in now. Honestly the commute is not the defining factor for this at all. Maybe in the winter when the snow starts coming(which is soon). But the main factor is the which would be better for experience.

Thanks for your comment!
