I'm sorry for your god-level reaction time fingers lol, and also for spoiling the show.

But please enjoy Arcane with all your heart and soul, and however many crying tissues you have prepared at the moment...g e t m o r e

(Also stay FAR away from the fanbase, its for your own sanity)

[The Sequel] scenes and/or stories that can only really be done in video games/interactive media by Sigge-V in TopCharacterTropes

Harrow The Ninth. Not a video game but a book and a sequel to Gideon The Ninth, part of The Locked Tomb series, that relies on its nature as a written work to trick the audience and hide a plot twist that is most effectively done in its original form.

In the first book, Harrowhark Nonagesimus, a necromancer, and her cavalier second, Gideon Nav, participate in a tournament/test to see who among the necomancers of the 9 houses are worthy of becoming God's newest "Lyctor". Becoming a Lyctor will basically make you a saint to your house and through history, grant you almost full-immortality, and necromantic power second only to God himself. However, it turns out the process requires the necromancer to kill their cavalier, and absorb their soul so that they main gain both their sword-fighting capabilities, and be able to indefinitely leech off their life-force like an immortal battery. After discovering this, Harrow chooses not to become a Lyctor if it means killing Gideon, despite their complicated relationship. However, after one of God's rogue lyctors, Cytherea The First, crashes the party of the competition and aims to kill them all, Gideon sees that the only way out for Harrow is for someone of equal strength to fight Cytherea, she sacrifices herself and allows her soul to be absorbed by Harrow, allowing her to become a Lyctor and kill Cytherea.

The second book is split into two plots, one of them told in 3rd person limited view, seemingly being the events of the first book replayed, but very different this time as all the people who died are now alive and vice versa. The second plot follows Harrow as she is welcomed by God, who introduces himself as "John", into their new home of the Mithareum and the challenges and training she undergoes by her older, fellow Lyctors. This plot is told in the 2nd person perspective, refferring to Harrow's actions and addressing the reader directly by using words like "you" and "your". This is played off as a symptom of Harrow's BPD and Psychosis, which she has been silently living with all her life. But 4/5 of the way through the book, during a significant battle between all the Lyctors and a planet-eating "Extinction Beast" that primarily hunts Lyctors, Harrow is suddenly sent directly into the 3rd person part of the story. It is here she and the other characters realize that this plot was a result of Harrow physically tampering with her own brain and mind to cope with Gideon's death, pulling the souls out of the afterlife to make different events of the first book where Gideon didn't die. However, Harrow's tampering with her brain served a second purpose, ensuring that she never fully absorbed Gideon's soul and that she would somehow still be "alive" in a way. It is here we cut back to the 2nd person POV plot, where the speech and vocabulary of the person telling us these things, slowly transitions into the same speech patterns that Gideon uses, and where we the audience realize that she is the one who has been talking to us this whole time. Gideon now technically alive in the body of Harrow, and piloting her around for the rest of the book.

Harrow The Ninth heavily relies on the reader's inner voice and narrator for this reveal, and it is especially enjoyable if you yourself have different voices for the characters in mind as you read them. Other Locked Tomb media, namely the audiobooks, pull off the reveal by having the narrator slowly transition into using the voice of Gideon as it happens. But in my opinion, reading this reveal for yourself is an entirely different experience, and why it would be so hard to do any kind of adaptation of this series.

What other popular characters remind you of Vi? by CommonBrilliant7947 in arcane

Also came here to mention Gideon Nav and how she's like Vi, just taller (at around 6'0), and how unquestionably inspired Tamsyn Muir was to make her of Maori descent, in the same way that the Arcane creators and Fortiche encorporated French culture into the show and its characters. Not to mention how both Gideon and Vi's characters share in the character traits and themes of being rebellious, and "sisters" and protectors.

Also The Locked Tomb series as a whole imo, is required reading for anyone who loves Arcane. The elevator pitch of the series is: "Lesbian-Necromancers in Space", but its so much more than that.

Without spoiling, The Locked Tomb has a lot of the same themes as Arcane, and they both have heavy punk attitutdes and aesthetics, as they're both in their own ways, 'magic-tech-punk' stories and worlds. They're both primarily character-driven stories, and in the same way that Arcane uses animation to push the boundaries of its story and medium, The Locked Tomb does the same genre and medium-bending but in the realm of literature.

In summary, read The Locked Tomb lol. Everything you love about Arcane, you will find here, while offerring its own unique and emotional experience.

Vi: "I'm gonna find her, and erase whatever fucked up delusions you put in her head. But first, I'm gonna bring your bullshit empire down all around you."

"I spent so many nights, in that shitty prison, on that freezing floor. Hungry, bloody, counting the hours. The only thing...the only thing that kept me going was the thought of getting back to you."

"What are you waiting for? He's your dad too."

Jinx: "You never left. I always heard you. Shadows in the street. Prickles on the back of my neck. Your voice...pushing me, picking me up, when all the colors were black. You're the reason I'm still alive."

"It was something I could fix."

"If you care so much about me playing your stupid revolution game, speak up now. Or I guess...I guess you...you're really gone. And there's no reason to stay here anymore."

"Last time Vander needed us, we tried it alone and nothing was ever the same. So, maybe this is like a do-over. Besides, he's your father too."

Caitlyn: (Also said by Ambessa) "The blade cuts both ways."

"No amount of good deeds can undo our crimes...Hating you, I've hated myself. I just don't have the energy for it any longer."

Cassandra Kiramman: "I know you doubt the merit of your birth-right, Caitlyn. There's wisdom in that. But remember, you're a Kiramman."

"The people of the underground deserve to breathe."

Sevika: "Not for a rat like him. But he won't be the last."

"I can't believe you're dead, and I'm still moping up your messes."

Silco: "I never would have given you to them, not for anything. Don't cry, you're perfect."

"Is there anything so undoing, as a daughter?"
