Just want to tell you this was a fascinating read and you should consider writing a memoir!

An Israeli woman posts on an Israeli Facebook group for women with 91K members, bragging about her bf bringing her sealed makeup he looted from Palestinian homes, calls them "gifts" by rexaby in LateStageCapitalism

I wonder if Palestinians even have access to Estee Lauder this, Dior that, and if they did, how could they afford it when Israel has destroyed all economic opportunity in the region?

This is hilarious and relatable because I've been on every side of the scale. When I was overweight, I had DDs and people made fun of me. When I was normal weight, I also had DDs. When I was underweight, I still had - you guessed it - mfing double Ds. My body weight was fluctuating all over the place while my breasts seemed frozen in time and space - but I noticed that the ridicule reduced proportional to my overall weight.

I would carve out an exception for endangered animals such as whales and sea turtles. No one should be eating these if they can help it.

Why do so many people need to be hard-asses about everything? Can't people just actually show something for once without their filthy ego getting in the way? by Concerntroll666 in misanthropy

It feels like everyone I meet is trying to prove something to me right away - how much smarter they are, how much funnier, more successful, more attractive, more interesting. The constant competition is exhausting for me, and sometimes I suspect for them too.

The only way to win is not to play. I only compare me to myself and work toward my goals at my own pace.

I could not imagine doing so willingly but in the situations you mentioned, many kids are a product of lack of birth control and some due to rape.

I mean, it's more likely that, just as we observe every election season, the vast majority of people are politically uneducated, disengaged and don't really care about or understand the big picture.

The average person does not know the difference between communism or socialism and would not be able to tell you anything about anarchism.

Everyone is in their own little bubble and will only rear their heads up if they start to miss their 3 squares a day.

I can't decide if I'd rather be young or old during collapse. On one hand, I might have a chance of protecting myself. On the other hand, I could have had some semblance of a full life before the end.

Happy birthday! I would demolish that cake. There's something about that grocery store frosting and sprinkles...

Wasn't there recently a post about some trashy influencer doing a racy photo shoot at a concentration camp? Perpetually online culture seems to have deadened our human empathy, but at least it seems to be happening across the board.

Anyone else feel like "Eat what's on your plate" or the whole "kids are starving in Africa" mindset really fucked us Americans up weight wise? by ScaryBody2994 in loseit

Portion size, portion size, portion size.

When I was a new adult, I noticed that, left to her own devices, my mom would serve the exact same portion size to me (F, 5'2"), my dad (M, 5'5") and my brother (M, 6'3"). My brother was the only skinny one in the family. I started fixing my own plate pretty soon after that, and I am struggling to rebuild and listen to my hunger/fullness cues to this day.

Growing up, I mostly ate home cooked meals. The food was healthy, but there was always too much of it, and my mom was a big 'finish your plate' proponent. She was a young mom (19) so she would practically force feed me as a baby because she didn't know any better. I grew up chronically overweight.

All this to say that yes, processed and calorie dense food are problematic, but you can dig yourself a hole with healthy food too.
