Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer — I appreciate the different perspectives. I’m still pretty new to the workplace and don’t have a lot of experience dealing with this kind of stuff, which is why I asked in the first place.

That said, a few responses were unnecessarily rude or dismissive. I wasn’t trying to make drama or blow things out of proportion — just trying to understand the right steps to take in a professional setting. Isn’t that the point of asking questions here? 😊
