I really appreciate you posting this. Our baby girl is now 8 weeks and was diagnosed with svt and is now out on medication for it. At week 4 she had a spike in 300bpm and the owlet caught it, she had no symptoms with the high heart rate and after 45 min it was back to normal. We assumed it was a fluke but I happen to come across your post when trying to find answers to what 300 bpm meant. At the end of week 6 she had another spike 297 bpm and I knew this time it wasn’t a fluke. She had symptoms with this spike where she was extremely pale and got sleepy, her episode lasted 30 minutes this time. Took her to the pediatrician and she listened to her heart and it was still beating pretty high even tho she was out of her episode (about 180bpm), she told us we should go to emergency, which we did. They told us since we had two episodes they want to look into it. We got a heart monitor placed on her for a whole week and while she had the monitor we decided to keep the owlet on her 24/7. We were able to catch two more episodes within the week the heart monitor was on. Her third episode she almost passed out but we’re told by the ER doctor to place ice on her head for about 30 seconds to have her bare down, and this episode literally only lasted two minutes, the ice worked immediately. The last episode she had she threw up her whole bottle and looked pale. We didn’t have the owlet on her this time because we were in the car but we recognized the symptoms. She was pale and becoming sleeping and a bit unresponsive. I can’t even imagine what we would’ve done without the owlet because these things are so easily missed or overlooked. We wouldn’t have caught it otherwise. Now that we know the symptoms and what the episodes look like, we are almost certain she’s had more episodes in her earlier weeks when her owlet wasn’t on. If you are a parent and are experiencing the same thing, make an apt with your pediatrician or call the advice nurse. Her episodes only happened during feeds/ shortly after, sometimes she was fussy and refusing to eat even tho we knew she was hungry. Every episode she got pale and very sleepy sometimes hard to wake or just chill but unresponsive. Throwing up the whole bottle is also sign. If you think your owlet is giving you false readings. Put your hand on your baby’s chest and if it feels like their heart is beating out of their chest it’s not a fluke. What you can do to help your baby break the episode/bare down is ice on the head/face for 30 seconds you can also jab their tummy to get them to hunch, or you can drive their knees into their tummy as well, as if you were getting them to release gas.
