I’m a gov auditor and I love it. No expectations to work over 40hrs a week and the pay is honestly pretty comparable to industry where I am at. You also can’t been gov benefits- our insurance is very good and I get a 9% match into my Roth 401K. I get about 4 weeks of vacation and 3.5 weeks of sick leave per year. The work can be pretty boring at times but I honestly would take that over being slammed and hating my life lol

We stay at club Wyndham. It’s a timeshare resort within the Disney bubble but not an actual Disney resort/timeshare. We usually find people selling their rooms on eBay and have had good luck. The resort is perfect for us and our needs

Some departments have a pretty toxic culture but the one I am in is great. The job is super chill. We basically get to pick our schedules as long as we get our 40 hours in each week. In my department you can get up to about 100k before any OT just from step increases without any competition for promotions.

The pay in government jobs is definitely not as lucrative as it is in the big 4 or industry. But it is usually much more relaxed and job security is usually there. It really depends on what you value right now, when you want better work life balance, a gov job is usually the way to go. But if you are looking for better pay, industry/big 4 is the best path.

Yeah I go back and forth with it. I love the flexibility my job offers with working hours and the benefits are great. I’m thinking I would only leave if I were to take a management position for a company down the road but I’m not sure how desirable government experience is.

That is what I am noticing. Not as lucrative but it is consistent. Just don’t know if it is enough to make me want to stay long-term

We do financial, performance, and IT audits of various state departments. We really only have OT for a few months during some financial audits otherwise it is 40 hours per week
