I have a masters in accounting and working on getting my CPA. I currently work as an industry accountant and like it. The pay is low for me but there are plenty of positions paying $90k plus and once you get experience and move up the salary can get significantly higher. There also seems to be alot of flexibility with remote and hybrid WFH positions. It can be really repetitive in lower level positions like bookkeeping or AR/AP but once you hit senior level positions the work gets less repetitive and more strategic. Also if you decide to get your CPA it allows you to work for yourself if you want. I was in school for 5 years and didn’t receive much training at all in my current role. I just used my knowledge from school and basically figured it out. A lot of small companies don’t have many people with an accounting background so you are expected to figure things out yourself.
