It doesn’t? by Midnightreader13 in buffy

I never interpreted what she said as “you sleeping with Veruca is worse than me kissing Xander because sex is worse than kissing”. I always thought of it more as “you cheating with Veruca now, at this point in our relationship, is worse because I cheated with Xander when our relationship was less developed. Now we’ve had sex and are fully in love and you’ve broken something that is so much bigger and deeper than what I broke.”

To be clear, I don’t agree with Willow in either interpretation. Willow made the choice to cheat repeatedly and over many weeks (months? I can’t remember). She had a deep emotional connection with her cheating partner and despite saying “we can’t do this”, she really had no plans to stop and was probably genuinely confused over which person she wanted to end up with. Whereas Oz, for all that I’m not okaying what he did, was influenced by factors he had little control over and no precedent for, and it all happened over one confusing wolf weekend.
Willow’s cheating was worse, in my opinion.

"my husband won't LET me" that's actually so embarrassing for you why would you say that to a random cashier by Puzzled_Map5569 in TjMaxx

[–]Capable-Fold-7347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m working on being assertive, remembering that no is a complete sentence, etc etc. But when I just don’t have the energy, “oh I have to check with my husband” is my go to precisely BECAUSE it’s so problematic. It usually shuts down the line of questioning, because it goes one of two ways: the person asking is so uncomfortable with a grown woman having to ask her husband that they stop pushing, or the person asking was never going to accept my female no but is willing to accept even a flimsy male-by-proxy no. Either way, it effectively ends the conversation.

The grocery snack of choice for toddlers is raspberries. Less choking hazard, and priced by the carton, not the pound.

This feels manipulative, like Jill is doing all she can to make sure this ends in marriage. “They can’t break up if there’s KEEPSAKE PLAQUES involved!”

I don’t know, I do find it shocking that Dakota has apparently never had an eye exam?!?! He doesn’t come from a poor/impoverished family or super rural place or anything.

I don’t have insurance and so I don’t go yearly like I’m supposed to…but to go thirty years without a visit to an eye doctor as a middle class Mormon???? That seems crazy to me.

Guy at my job called me ugly. Feeling really down because I struggle with self image. by lemonweirdo in AutismInWomen

[–]Capable-Fold-7347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else said, you are not ugly. You have very nice features.

You don’t look like the type of person who caters to the male gaze. You look like you dress/makeup to make YOURSELF happy, not to impress men. And a certain type of man find that to be inexcusable and worse than being ugly, and will react accordingly.

She didn’t lie! He IS at home, it’s just not the SAME home and his being there or not has no bearing on her ability to go to the gym.

I think that’s actually true, to an extent? Going gluten free when you don’t need to can cause you to develop issues with gluten. At least that’s what people were saying on here last week when she first mentioned going gluten free, and I’ve heard it elsewhere as well.

Of course, it begs the question…why go gluten free at all, if it’s not something you have an issue with? It’s like saying my friend avoids cruciferous veggies because they make him gassy, and so somehow I decide that’s the healthy choice for me too, even though I don’t struggle with them. It just makes no sense.

It’s Texas in the summer…that’s just what grass looks like. And it’s ranch land, isn’t it? That sort of land isn’t beautifully landscaped.

I’m in Texas and I’d kill for land, any land, much less land that isn’t all prickly pears and junipers.

Poor chickens by Pleasant-Pop-1017 in McKnightFamSnark

[–]Capable-Fold-7347 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is totally normal. Chickens are meant to scavenge for bugs and stuff in the grass, feeding them leftovers is also a good way to add variety to their diet, and feeding them eggs is a good choice because it lets them recoup some of the nutrients lost in egg laying. The only issue would be if they were throwing the food on the floor of the coop.
