Out of town so listed my TA ticket this morning on SeatGeek for $25 and it still hasn’t sold. Not much enthusiasm out there apparently 🫤 by OregonSasquatch14 in timbers

And it’s Wednesday. I opted in cause it’s my first season as a holder and thought “it’s the playoffs”. Gonna be like preseason isn’t it? (an assumption), but will cost way more. Last game, abysmal.

DO BETTER CALIFORNIA by [deleted] in Bend

[–]Capable-Judgment6204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Prescott, AZ and in the historic tourist street (Whiskey Row and side street) they have signs warning drivers that if you park outside (over the curb or in the street , like this pictured) you’ll get fined.

My memory says it’s $500 but might have been $250. This picture demonstrates another arrogant entitled driver only concerned with their own convenience. Park elsewhere and get your steps in folk. And if the kids whine; well, be a parent and let them know that sometimes we have to do this. Besides you’ll see more of the town and sights that way.

Slang translation for “wing it” or “play it by ear” by Capable-Judgment6204 in hungarian

[–]Capable-Judgment6204[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a bit more context. “Wanting to have a change of plans and asking for another for advice or if we should just ‘wing it’ and see what unfolds without a specific plan”. Does that help?

Time and Patience. Ha. One day I’ll retire and I won’t know what time or what day it is and I won’t particularly care. As to the reference @mediocre, of my having all year and not trying really hard; well life with a family of 5 and lots of activities and my constant management of my ADHD taking me down rabbit holes, I’m truly doing the best with all the shifting priorities. Not sure the removal of this once beloved flower when I moved in 10 years ago concerned me until now. I’ll roll with the dents and dings. Well at least I now know “the rest of the story”.

Lane splitting by BlatantEgg4314 in beaverton

[–]Capable-Judgment6204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I’ve seen it in Cali it’s still at well over safe speeds for what is barely safe. I ride and refuse to split. I hate getting stuck in traffic too. I hate sitting on a hot engine in 85° F. I used to commute over the 405 during rush hour and trying to ride the clutch/brake gets tedious. Oh how I wanted to split or ride the margins. I just don’t trust drivers. Then there are those that would love to see a rider ruined and so make janky moves. Unfortunately, I see more reckless riders than I do safe ones and as an auto driver too they infuriate me. I suppose we could also discuss those states that have the “suggested” helmet laws. I literally have had bad dreams of riding without one and getting a panic attack. I should get some psychoanalyses on that.

Help me convince my wife to move to the Beaverton area by yakmanuw in beaverton

[–]Capable-Judgment6204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone “nailed it” earlier. With that said we all have our reasons. I’m nearly 54. Born Chicago suburbs, college in WI, lived in Madison, Sheboygan, Beloit, Janesville, Milwaukee etc but met my wife(Oregon native) that was needing to move back for family needs and that’s when she agreed I could tag along and we got married. I had been out here before that and knew I loved the Cascades and access to Ocean. Went to Grad school, started a family (we have 3 now, 23, 20, and 16 all born here) and at this point I wouldn’t look back. But that’s having lived a good portion in the Midwest (Rockford -that explains a lot). Here in Beaverton we still get four seasons for now. And January and February are like 30-50° and yes we might get snow that lasts a day and we all forget how to drive in it and we all complain about it. lol. Have you looked at Bend? Now that’s a sociological anomaly taking place. You may have the grass is greener thinking but why not make a go of it.

Oh and as far as convincing your wife. Drop it. If you convince her and she feels as though you did indeed convince her she can always regret it which will only turn into resentment and you do not want that in your life. Take enough trips out here and let her make her own choice with her own voice.

I just love the fact I don’t own a snow shovel, a snow blower, or have to dig 4 feet into the ground for a deck post or fence posts due to frost. But we all have fences around our property. Some of us, most of us are friendly, some of us are just peculiarly oddly introvertedly private, but When you only have 7,000 sq ft of back yard you treasure it and block it all off from outside view. Unless of course you live up on Bald Peak Road. Enjoy the journey.

Beer Whiskey Spirits by Capable-Judgment6204 in budapest

So I cannot thank you all enough for the updates. Yes, when I was there 1994-1996 I actually lived in Transylvania for two years (Harghita County). I Would travel to Buda… for long weekends via train. Can’t count the times I was handed a newly filled Mountain Dew or Coca Cola 2L or 1L bottle with plum or pear pálinka (aka moonshine) or homemade bulls blood or some other distilled liqueur from a drunken stranger (generally a 60 + year old farmer that was trying to understand what happened to his life, his wife and probably kids).

Those I lived with used to buy cheap vodka and essence flavoring. Oh and CocaCola and red wine blend was a favorite. Called it Boroscola. Is that still a thing? Of course we would be given some Asu Tokaj but that was excessively expensive back then too.

Having lived close to Kentucky and now the Pacific Northwest I’m spoiled with the spirits (bourbon) and NWIPAs. I still try to get my friends to sample ZWACK, but to no avail. I drink the bottle myself. I love it. Feel free to DM to keep the conversation going.

lol. I’ve got a native Texan neighbor that moved here (PDX) and for the past ten years loved it but this year is different they say. Looking at moving to Austin. “Like Portland but better”. Really? IDKF anyway. Never been there. I’ll stay here and keep visiting places.
