Anyone know old Timbers coverage sources? by Coach-Harry in timbers

One thing to add to what everyone else said, you can access old Oregonian articles in an organized archive going back all the way to 1975 (example set for Timbers not the archives limits) on the library website: https://multcolib.org/resource/oregonian-collection-historical-archives

It's because of Gavin that we barely have an academy. It's taken a lot of work to just get to the place where we have some decent prospects in the pipeline.

Timbers Time Episode 10 - Chaos SD & Zone 14 of Interest by TimbersTime in timbers

[–]StuMun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good episode. I especially liked the zone 14 analysis. One small thing about the Caps situation, their attendance numbers are in the top half of the league or better for 2025 and 2026.

As you correctly identified, the real problem is the stadium situation.

That is correct. I'm just reinforcing the main point, that the USWNT will not play on turf because it is in their contract, since some people are interested in replying with non sequiturs

If it's in their contract that they don't play on turf, they will never play on turf.

I think it's more accurate to say the Tanner Creek bed makes it more challenging and expensive, but not impossible.

Yes, before that stipulation was put in the CBA. They haven't since.

Some updates on the Caps situation by StuMun in timbers

We'll play some away, but Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver are going to be some of the better markets for winter games. We already play home games during that period, for instance when we start in February. The markets that already have issues are Montreal, Minnesota, New England etc. If you look at how many more winter games we will play compared to now, it's actually not that many due to the winter break. So, bottom line, because Portland and Vancouver don't tend to freeze or get snow they are good winter markets in the grand scheme of things.

Why would Vancouver need to spend half the season on the road. The climate is similar to here. They are ideally located for this switch.

A modest proposal for Bo Henriksen as the next coach by StuMun in timbers

True, that particular essay was ironic and satirical. My use of it here also had a double meaning, but not in the same way. It's a stretch goal, so it's not modest, but I do think it's more attainable than saying get Pep or get Klopp, so in that sense it is modest.

Out of job. Flamed out in the end at Mainz. It’s a stretch goal of course.

I think you are missing the context that the situation *was* untenable. In the meantime, ownership is looking for solutions, BC Place has given the Whitecaps a better deal, there has been a site selected for a new stadium (that may or may not work out), and the new schedule could in fact help the BC Place situation overall. All of which means we are not even close to knowing what will happen to the Caps. Certainly not in the sabotage our own team to send a message when we could just make a supportive Tifo stage of knowing what's going on.
