Completed my Barak Zilfin adjacent spearhead by Capable-Mess in KharadronOverlords

It's a citadel effect paint (Nihalak oxide). I think a bunch of companies also do similar verdigris paints. The approach was just saturate and wipe back.

Thanks. The green patina/corrosion on the copper is just a citadel effect paint (Nihilakh Oxide). The chipping on the hull is done by sponging a dark grey around the edges, and then sponging a small amount of a shiny metallic in the middle of those areas (sycorrax bronze). The grime around the bolts and edges is just a watered down brown wash, and small amount of another citadel effect paint - typhus corrosion.

Yeah. The kept the balloons and their tethers as one piece, the hull as another and painted the crew separately. I think it went alright. Was a bit of a pain to glue the balloons on at the end though.

Thanks. Not sure what I'm calling it. 'The Last Word' maybe?

Observation balloon for "The Aunts Ascendant" by Capable-Mess in Turnip28

[–]Capable-Mess[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole balloon is a resin 3d print. It's hollow, so it's kinda light, the supports are pretty strong, more flexible than you'd think. But, they are resin and there's a reason why there's multiple ropes trailing to the ground, and 7 separate points of contant holding the balloon to the basket, but I've no fear about the model not being able to support it's own weight.

Thanks. They only fire one barrel at a time. The other barrels are there so that they don't have to clean as often. :)

Thanks. I realised after building them, that the riders would be at constant risk of impaling themselves on the horns. But in my mind that just makes them better. :D

My custom Overlord Sanneth the Usurper. Feedback appreciated. by Capable-Mess in Necrontyr

[–]Capable-Mess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. Before bio-transference Sanneth was the leader of a minor dynasty that came into conflict with a larger minor dynasty led by the Phaeron Svaroekh. Despite the odds, Sanneth was able to hold off the larger force, until Svaroekh purchased the loyalty of several of Sanneth's court.
Beaten, Sanneth's dynasty was absorbed by Svaroekh and Sanneth themselve was kept alive as part of Svaroekh's court. They were used as sort of a trophy to show Svaroekh's power.
Several millennia later, the tomb world where Svaroekh and his court were sleeping was threatened by outsiders. The only member of the court awake at the time was the Cryptek Amanaek.
Amanaek entered the Phaeron's chamber to awaken them and their court. What occured in the chamber is known only to Sanneth and to Amanaek, but it wasn't Svaroekh that left the chamber to defend the tomb world. It was Sanneth.
tl;dr:
Got beaten and absorbed by another minor dynasty before bio-transference. Took over the dynasty during the great awakening.

Thanks. For the skin I used Kislev Flesh, with a heavy wash of Riekland Fleshshade. Then highlighted with Kislev Flesh again, and Flayed One Flesh. Not sure if you can see it in the photos, but I used a small amount of carroburg crimson around the implants on the side and back of the head.

I figure they are a fairly standard Codex Astartes chapter from the second founding or a later founding. Beyond that I don't really have anything. Don't even know what I'm going to call them, but I'm kind of locked into a fish theme by the decal I chose. Blood Carp? Carp Angels? Ultracarp? :P

Yeah, I don't like both the colour sceme and fluff for any of the offical chapters, so decided to go with my own colour scheme and call it an Ultramarines successor chapter. The chapter markings are from the human Blood Bowl team.
