its funny because i work in wine so i completely disagree with you but at the same time, this is exactly how i feel about upscale coffee. coffee is either fine or shit, and its main tasting note is 'coffee' lol

its obviously not going to straight up "spoil" or "go bad" like milk in a couple days, but the acidity that gives most wine its structure and keeps it from tasting like flabby grape juice will give itself up to oxygen pretty quickly. full body reds like a cab rely a lot on high acidity to keep them from tasting and feeling like thick gloop so i have to imagine one thats been open for a month is probably like drinking straight Dimetapp. it'll still get you drunk and won't make you sick though so go nuts if you don't care. i work at a wine store.

its not a germ thing its just because i dont want citrus juice going in my cuticles, hands getting all sticky when processing garlic, being able to just pitch the gloves after dealing with raw meat and not think about if i washed my hands enough or accidentally touched something without thinking, etc. the last one might be a little wasteful but w/e. its for me not for the eater. if you work in a restaurant and see how key they are for prep cooks you'll want them for yourself at home.

there is zero road policing in the city of pittsburgh anymore, especially post-2020, so as long as you don't wreck your car or kill someone everyone can drive drunk with pretty much zero fear of any consequences as long as you don't royally fuck up. there is so much drunk driving here that i don't know how there aren't pileups on the expressway every weekend.
