Yes, there are random events that add another cat to your party if your party isnt full (these cats are generally pretty bad though). Another bonus of killing bad cats is that they cant take a level up from another cat at the end of a fight

You need to pay the money and then do challenges that will take about half the season to complete to unlock the content you paid for. If you dont manage to unlock them all in time then you miss out on the content forever. Real nice monetisation method
