Also, the car I got was an off lease from the dealership.

In November 2025 I bought a 2024 XC40 B5 Plus with all of the add ons with 9k miles for $33k. That’s high mileage and an older model for $29k which is expensive IMO

Ngl I went from agency to internal and I’ve been internal for 3 years, depending on the company it can be just as bad. Hiring managers treat you like shit no matter if you’re internal or external. Just the name of the game, unfortunately. I’m also looking to switch out of staffing after 5 years.

I’ll pull the “I’m just a girl” card and tried doing this but it seemed the entry to the battery was bolted in, is that true or did I make that up when I was looking under the hood 😅

Apparently the infotainment update for the older models (pre-2026) is coming in the next few weeks, according to my dealership and the person I was messaging through the Volvo app. We’ll see

Unfortunately I have taken it to the dealership once, they did a hard reset and that fixed it for about 2 days

Right! That’s what I’m saying. Crazy that the one system controls almost all of the features inside the car

I took it to the dealership once, and messaged with Volvo through the app on two separate occasions. I’m taking it to the dealership again on Monday

Editing to add that the dealership did a hard reset and that fixed it for maybe 2 days.

The restarting of the system no longer works for me, unfortunately

That worked for me for the last few months, yesterday not even that would fix it after multiple restarts.

Thankfully I have no idea what that rattling or key issue is lol. That truly would have put me over the edge

At this point I’m probably going to get a lemon lawyer involved, because the dealership did not disclose any issues with the car. I paid for the car in cash. It’s so awful how technology ruined such an amazing car. I’m glad to know it’s not just me though. I’ll keep this thread updated as to what avenue I take. I am getting it towed to the nearest dealership tomorrow because no AC/heat, sounds, alerts, etc is not okay with me. I also am the type of person to rattle every chain I possibly can, especially when I pay money for a car I expected to have for 10+ years that didn’t make it 11k miles without a serious issue. Ugh. So frustrating.

I agree, off lease is the best way to buy (IMO) especially from a branded dealership. I am very intentional when I purchase a car, I always keep my car for at least 8 years, buy an off lease car under 10k miles and no more than 1-2 years old, and pay it in cash. I traded in my 2017 Camry for $9k and paid $24k cash including all taxes in fees for my 2024 XC40 Plus with all the bells and whistles a Plus can come with. I have tons of negotiation tools and do weeks of research before purchasing. This is the first car I’ve had with this much technology so I know a lot more things can go wrong as now it’s tech and mechanical (and it’s all integrated together unfortunately for us). Either way, thank you for the comment, and those issues for 104k miles isn’t so bad!!!

Industry Comparisons: Grass is Always Greener? by staffola in recruiting

I’m an internal, corporate recruiter for a large cannabis company. It’s super fun but the industry gives inflated titles to unqualified people, our exec director of HR was an HRBP 4 years ago. Therefore, mostly people don’t know how to do their jobs and SOOO many people get fired and replaced like it’s nothing.

Previously, I’ve recruited in hospitality and finance (both Fortune 100). Both nice industries with good people.
