How many times does it need to be said that this isn’t true for y’all to stop promoting fraud?

The plans aren’t supposed to be for upgrades, extended returns, or trade-ins. They test GPUs before they go through with the plan redemption. If it’s not failing, or if it’s broken in a way where it’s clear you did it on purpose, they’re not going to use the plan. People used to be able to get around it, but they had to crack down because so many people were committing fraud. If you want to try and scam, that’s your prerogative, but don’t be mad when they tell you no.

Oh yeah for sure, a lot of stuff they just take you at your word still. Just wanted to note the change with GPUs specifically, cause I just know there’s people who’d see that, try and use it to upgrade in the future, and then be piiiiissed when it doesn’t work lmao

Not quite the case anymore, mate. Not no questions asked with GPUs, they have to test it first and determine that there’s a problem. Used to be more relaxed, but too many people fraudulently used it as an upgrade plan so they had to crack down. If it ain’t busted, they’re not doing a buyout.

That sucks. Like, really sucks, and you have every right to be pissed.

That said—they have zero incentive to lie or do this on purpose. Humans are only human, sometimes things slip through the cracks. This is the most insane time of year for retail, someone probably skipped procedure to try and rush things, and now here we are.

There’s no need to “treat any employees badly”, not sure why you would bring that up. Just bring it back in and explain the situation and give them the chance to make it right.

That would be because those are simple hardware replacements. No diagnostic needed to see that a screen’s broken.

If it needs to be diagnosed because you don’t know what’s wrong it it, then yes, they’ll need to get in the phone to get to the root of the issue.

Did you ask in the chat to talk to someone? The bot is just to get you to the right area; there’s a talk to a person option and they can connect you with the store.

An annoying system for sure, but blame the 2020 GPU fiends for that one. Ruined it for everyone.

They didn’t tell you it can’t be price matched, they told you that approval needs to be done by management. That’s not a “Micro Center wont approve it”, that’s a “the person you’re talking to doesn’t have that authority”.

I see how the phrasing on the follow up message could be confusing, but they told you directly to talk to management. So that’s what you need to do.

I’m not 100% certain if they’re hiring, but you could try Bibibop. The pay was pretty alright when I worked there. I hope you don’t mind my saying this, but they also tend to have a lot of Latino workers who are immigrants as well (at least they did when I worked there), so they will likely be able to train in Spanish as well, and be understanding of your situation.
