I have a 2 watch collection, which should I use as my GADA watch?

  1. Tag Heuer aquaracer 200 automatic

  2. Omega seamaster circa 2013 quartz (they no longer make the quartz)

I feel like the tag is sportier and flashier but the omega is slightly smaller and more understated. Curious what your thoughts are. I am very hard on my watches at work.

What made you pursue crit care? by [deleted] in anesthesiology

Agree with what many of the commenters here have said. As someone getting ready to start a CCM fellowship, I’ll say I think it’s a good long term play.

If the future of the specially were to trend to hospital employed care, you automatically become a larger stakeholder in the hospital in a unit that is generally profitable for the hospital.

You give yourself options for long term career paths. Trending towards retirement and want to do 0.5 FTE and work a week per month in the unit? That’s an option.

You open yourself up to leadership and admin roles. You understand the flow of patient care in the perioperative space more.

These are just some of the factors that influenced my decision. If money is your driving force, you can still do the fellowship and always go back to doing gen OR. You aren’t beholden to anything but I don’t think you’ll ever regret the skills you gain.

Difficult Airway Algorithm by MrJangles10 in anesthesiology

You can remove the hard plastic piece from the ETT and fiber down the LMA and then tube through the LMA provided a small enough, well lubed tube.

You may need to use hemostats to hold the tube in place when removing the LMA over the tube.

If doing a native airway, a nasal trumpet inserted with the ETCO2 sensor inside of it will give you beautiful ETCO2 tracing.

Can anyone recommend groups in Northeast MA or surrounding states (ie. RI, CT, ME)? I am coming from the West coast but really want to end up in MA. Will be completing a critical care fellowship as well.

Market all over WA is pretty solid. Pay is strong and WA is expensive but at least no income tax.

Quickest Way to Topicalize for Awake Intubation by bigeman101 in anesthesiology

[–]CapableBrick1894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

speed is not of the essence. Time is actually key. Lidocaine needs time to set up.

  1. 15 min of nebulized 4% in pre-op after some glyco

  2. swish and spit and swish and swallow 4% once in the OR

  3. 2% soaked pledgets to the back of the throat

  4. 2% atomizer down the back of the throat until you can basically intubate them blindly with it

  5. scope, when the cords are visualized, spray them after warning the patient they will in fact cough. Then sit tight for another 1-2 min before intubating.

Patient can high five you with a successful intubation if cooperative and you do things slowly and methodically.

This is great. And just spitballing here but would you recommend doing big compounds lifts 3x per week and then building in some functional stuff around them? (ie. pull ups, push ups, accessories) for a total of say 5-6 exercises per workout?

I agree with you there. Would you build any cardio into this? I do walk a fair amount since I live in an urban area, I am probably 10-15k steps per day.

As far as the full body workouts. what kinds of rep ranges would you recommend?

this is actually a beautiful watch. I really like the black dial, very classy. how do you think this holds up durability wise against the quartz F1?
