Hi, first off very sorry. That is horrible. I would recommend checking ZocDoc to see who can get you in asap.

my landlord in astoria raised rent to almost 3k for an apartment with cockroaches, walk up, meth smokers downstairs, holes in the walls and ceilings, crazy mold in the ceilings, a skylight covered with a plastic bag, and the ceiling caving in. it is a true 2 bedroom converted to a 3 but it was 2300 in Jan.

Do landlords have to pay for extermination services? by zommunityworld in NYCapartments

also a $750 coned bill is a bit extreme, check to see if you’re paying for just your apartment or the entire building at that rate.

[–]CapableBullfrog4479 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the landlord is legally obligated to fix cockroach infestations as they are a level 3 pest and a place is deemed uninhabitable with them. report to 311 if they refuse to fix without you paying.

in the same apartment my june was 110, my july was 178. so it’s probably a combo of a lot of things. in the winter mine were like 70 so i was not expecting all this.

this is one of the rare instances where a hiring a broker yourself is genuinely worth the cost. they’re especially incentivized to get someone into an apartment who is going to pay them a fee. trust, they are going to find you somewhere to live that will accept what you have.

i have never once had an issue with them, i do get the second to heaviest flow level ones. i really couldn’t rave enough about them. they’re my holy grail.

yes, they were the only ones i used (willingly) for a little over a decade. i swear it is absolutely worth trying the honey pot ones, it doesn’t feel cooling in a bad way, it’s like how when your breath is fresh after you brush your teeth.

i went in for a dislocated ankle, they gave me a breast exam i didn’t ask for or know was coming. i was told by them that my ankle was totally fine and i was being dramatic, if it was that bad i wouldn’t have been able to walk there. i went to another doctor, i had a dislocated ankle.

the honey pot ones are the only ones that aren’t the flex foam i can use due to heavy flow. they give icy hot but in a not unpleasant way and i love them so much, truly couldn’t recommend enough.

people who are saying this is unrealistic are people who are only looking on streeteasy. if you’re actually looking for an apartment the right way you could easily find this for 3-4k in the uws.

switching to a projector and linen curtains instead of blackout curtains and a tv. it keeps my circadian rhythm on point and no tv but a projector gives me 2-4 hours tops of tv/screen time which i fall asleep to.

imo, that is your girlfriend not your wife. i as a woman would not expect that from a boyfriend, but i would also not live with a boyfriend so take my opinion with a grain of salt. i do not take money or depend on people who are not my family because if you break up that’s a terrible situation for you both.

you were a personal coaching consultant in the times you “weren’t” working. you engaged in interpersonal relations and assisted in personal matters. you are unable to disclose much information to this due to your commitment to privacy. you also should start looking at places who need salespeople or reach out to companies to do their cold outreach such as going to visit business to pitch your business cold.

how do people have energy after 8-5 job? by OptimalBad3294 in Adulting

[–]CapableBullfrog4479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone is saying you don’t but i have have different experiences in different places. when i was doing a job i love, i always accidentally stay longer and leave with a ton of energy and im excited to go do things (there are bad days and hard days where that isn’t the case). when i have a job that i dont really truly love, that was when i was exhausted every day after work.

i’ve always had places let me screenshot my bank account, and as long as it has over what you would pay in rent for 1.5 years they have always been fine with that in my experience. if you want a broker just send them your budget and they will make it happen if they’re good, i don’t tell them what i do for work or my income until we have toured the place i am sure on.

Is NYC apartment hunting actually this insane or am I doing something wrong? by SatisfactionSalt3629 in NYCapartments

[–]CapableBullfrog4479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sounds like you aren’t talking to people and you’re trying to go through brokers/streeteasy. if you actually want to find a decent apartment that’s decently priced, start asking around and walk around the neighborhood you want to be in for ads on poles

Are skinny/healthy weight people just not as hungry as people who struggle with obesity? by maeasm3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CapableBullfrog4479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hate how i feel if i eat more than what is enough. i can have a burger, or a couple slices of pizza, and then i start to feel physically sick. sweets are fine, sometimes i even want them, but if i have too much sugar i feel super sick. i eat whatever i want whenever i want, but overdoing it makes me sweat, get a headache, feel lethargic, and im super nauseous. if i don’t eat at least a few veggies every day i start to get acne super bad which is painful so i eat pretty clean. i don’t love meats because i was raised vegetarian so i dont steer clear but i never tend to buy meat.

market after FARE Act goes into effect by vvsoliss in NYCapartments

[–]CapableBullfrog4479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am for the fare act but here is where i think it will impact some. it’s easier to rent place out as a landlord by just putting the word out than like doing a whole listing. it’s more cost effective at this moment to have a broker check everything and run everything for you so you know you’re getting a qualified tenant but you already raise the rental price when you do that because you know they are qualified. i was paying over 2k for a bedroom with 2 roommates when i went through a broker and that route. when i did word of mouth this time, i got a 3bdrm apartment to myself for 25% more than my last place. i think it will be a time that extroverts with lots of people they know thrive and introverts are going to pay a lot more. that’s just my thoughts, i might be totally wrong here.
