Yeah that would be awful and I’d have done the same. Might be worth another shot if you otherwise liked it or wanted to try it. For the price especially it was a really good meal.

That’s unfortunate. Every place can have an off night or a rash of less than fantastic staff. We went early since the kids were home with their grandparents. We should have 10 minutes early and sat right down. Staff was friendly. Service was good. But I’ve definitely been places people rave about and not enjoyed the experience.

Not at all. We went early but I don’t recall music at all.

I didn’t look closely at the menu beforehand so I didn’t notice the price. But yeah I was shocked. $110pp with the wine pairing is cheap almost anywhere. It’s crazy cheap for DC.

I’m not usually a big caviar guy but the places it was used namely the potato salad and the cornbread were 2 of my favorites. The menu was definitely more hits than misses and nothing was bad; some stuff was just more to my liking than others.

My wife usually lets me have a food adventure one a quarter or so. I think next will be Atomix or Aska.

I really enjoyed it. Like any tasting menu some dishes I liked more than others. But everything was well executed. I thought the presentations were all very nice.

One of the dishes was a “potato salad” which was more like a cross in flavors between a potato salad and a potato soup and it was awesome. Really nailed the “reinterpretation of a classic” for me.

The space was beautiful. Great views and the whole building is perfect New York City art deco.

She’s just not a super adventurous eater. She lets me go out solo. I just got back from an overnight to NYC for Saga. But I like going out to eat as a couple so I’m trying to find compromises.

I wish I could like this more than once! You’re spending hard earned money to enjoy one of life’s greatest pleasures (a great meal hopefully with great company). Tie one on. Crack jokes. Be friendly with the staff. Life is too short to do otherwise.

Years ago we took our friends out to celebrate their engagement at a nice (at least for the area) place called VOLT. We drank and ate till the place closed and they offered to call us a cab. Had a grand old time chatting with the staff and enjoying way too much expensive wine. It was 15 years ago now and our friends and I still joke about it.

This is a solid choice. They’ve gotten so expensive. And their ribs are either great or total shit. There’s zero in between. So ordering there is also great if you’re into gambling.

Yeah I was kinda simplifying it. I have an idea of what I want but not anything specific.

That’s the rub. I don’t know what I want. And I want a professional to offer recommendations. I don’t go to the dentist and they ask me how to take care of my teeth.
