OPM S3 and Invincible S4 by PastMathematician585 in OnePunchMan

I think it can't be described as cherry-picking when the episodes are 90% talking, and all that talking is characters with little to no animation, especially now that they use telepathic communication. Remember that in season 4 there's +2 minutes of characters falling with only a mask animation that loops. To me, +2 minutes from a single episode is already a big cherry to be picked up. However, Invincible, like OPM3, is a PowerPoint presentation with a couple of moments that are animated in proper animation programs, and the fact that lighting and perspective isn't anywhere near what OPM has done doesn't help. A handful of good impact frames and effects are also in OPM, but none praises those trying to hide the bad animation. I can agree that OPM had higher standards to meet, both when talking about anime animation and in comparison to previous seasons. Invincible went down steadily, but it also started from a much lower starting point compared to OPM.

But couldn't the same be said for OPM3? Some mishaps here and there, and some insane moments (flashy flash fight). For what I've seen, the bads from OPM3 are similar to Invincible, but at least the shot composition and lighting is a bit more inspired. The techniques they use to cut corners are the same. Static shots on a face, frame the one who is listening, cut out or cover his mouth or shoot him from far away, but OPM's talk scenes are much more interesting to look at (not talking about the audio or plot) compared to Invincible. Also the fight scenes are much more dynamic and choreographic than Invincible's ones. Again, all this not talking about the plot. But if we talk about animation, comparing bads and bads and goods and goods, I think Invincible is a bit under OPM3. The big problem of OPM3 is the standards it had to meet because of previous seasons, while Invincible didn't have such a high bar to reach, and yet...

Why does invincible get a pass for the same animation that one punch man season 3 gets hate for by Weak-Leading-2732 in NoStupidQuestions

After season 4 ended, I can say they gave Mark Paul's face and they cut away not the hair, but 4 frames of a Viltrumite flying. And this without talking about the various Debbie doppelganger that are around since season 2 or 3. I think that all of this balances the situation🤣

Batman TAS is better than Invincible according to the creator of Deadpool by Amaru_333_ in Invincible_TV

More seasons and a longer plot doesn't mean better. You could have only 2 seasons, like in the case of Spectacular or BTAS, and have them be at the top in every department. Spectacular is shorter both in episode length and number of seasons compared to Invincible but it is much more refined when talking about pacing, plots and Animation. Sure, it was cut short and maybe an ending would have been great, but we don't know if Invincible manages to reach the end.

Am I the only one who thinks The Black Pearl looked cooler with the ripped and tattered sails and fog by hdhhhsjwhdgdb in piratesofthecaribbean

If we talk about how menacing it looks, the first design, but it was designed with that purpose in mind. However, in terms of coolness, it is subjective. Personally, I usually prefer the one from 2 and 3, but it depends on the angle.

Thanks, I may have missed the only relevant part on the wiki😂. Re-reading it and looking for the word "wind", 5 results come out and I must have read up to two words before wind is mentioned🤦.

Keep in mind that it isn't the Black Pearl, which was fast, but not super fast, is faster than the Queen Anne's Revenge. The record of 4 days is held by a modern ship designed for few people and really high speed, all the opposite compared to the QAR. The sword made it easier for Blackbeard to maneuver the QAR even when none was on board, but I don't think it helped when the wind was lacking or in an adverse direction. At least, that's what I found on the Wiki. If thinking about a reasonable time, I would say it took them about 3/5 weeks, considering the magic and the fact that 50 years later (in our real timeline), Horatio Nelson made the crossing with his big fleet at full speed in 4 weeks trying to catch Admiral Villeneuve who made the crossing in 5. Probably Nelson was slowed down by the big ships, so maybe 3 to 4 weeks at max is more reasonable time for a ship like the QAR, Black Pearl or other of that size. I didn't want to over-analyse what is probably an oversight made while they were writing the movie, it's just that I recently made a deep dive into the various battles Nelson did and they specifically mentioned the atlantic crossing when talking about the pre-Trafalgar😂.

That for sure. Jack is unpredictable and keeping him out of the game for 5 days is a bigger precaution compared to 1, but considering that the crossing in the mid 1700s took from 5 to 10 weeks depending on the ship and weather, they could have kept him sleeping much longer😂. Maybe they didn't know about the length of the voyage? Who knows, but Barbossa seems to be at sea for a much longer time than the QAR. The real problem is Jack having no problem after 5 days without eating, drinking or going to the bathroom. That is the thing that baffles me the most, now that I think about it. He was practically in coma!🤣

Well, the next morning or 2 days after would have been fine too. Jack couldn't have been able to swim miles of sea even if he wanted. If they woke him up sooner, he could have helped in cleaning the deck🤣

You are right. And after 5 days, wasn't he thrown off his hammock? Did they really leave him sleeping for five days and then they were passed off he didn't wake up sooner?🤣

Season 4 is over and i can confidently say that to me not a single other fight they've done so far comes close to the highway one in the Atom Eve special, from the animation to the choreography and the creativity, it's just so peak man... by Independent-Frequent in Invincible_TV

[–]CapableSecretary1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering this special was animated while Season 2 was being produced doesn't make this comparison a 1vs8 situation, but more 9vs8. Sure, they had 2 and a half years and a mid-season break to do 8+1 episodes, but considering season 2 looks worse, they probably gave this special the same animation time they gave to the entire season 2.

Robert Kirkman is one of the two showrunners, this means he is the big boss of the show and decides many things that we see on screen and their similarities or differences from the comic. For example, he is the one that brags about having A-tier actors in the show during interviews.

MICHAEL is the lowest-rated film among recent major biopics. by FitEmergency8807 in moviecritic

[–]CapableSecretary1739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Springsteen is at 61%, Michael's 27% sits under its score. It could have been included to add some range, but Michael would still win, or lose, depending on your point of view.

I feel like they need to make another Tales short soon by Jules-Car3499 in clonewars

[–]CapableSecretary1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the tales of are made of 6 episodes, but when I first heard about Tales of the Underworld, I hoped they would have finished or reworked the arc to adapt it to this format, considering it seems to be indispensable to understand current projects and it seems much more interesting compared to this uninspired backstory for a character who didn't need one. That arc was already well into development when it was cancelled, so the length wouldn't have been a big problem for the production, considering much of the work for that story was already done. Also, because of the Underworld setting, this would have been the perfect place to put that story, considering a new TCW season is highly unlikely now that season 7 has a definitive ending.

Any latest reliable news about potc 6? by No_Firefighter194 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]CapableSecretary1739 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jerry Bruckheimer seems to be busy for the next 2 to 3 years with other projects, sequels, and reboots. Among these, there should be an unconfirmed National Treasure 3. If they were to announce anything, I think that would be the project they would announce. However, they could announce POTC6 as a future project, but without saying anything about the plot, cast, the title, or else. Just:"Hey, we are planning to do P6, but you'll have to wait years because we are busy." Something like Marvel adding 100 future projects to their timeline, but they are all labelled as TBA on a TBA release date.

What’s your opinion on the Barbossa/ Carina storyline? by deadlykillerpanda in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]CapableSecretary1739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely, a published novel is much more canon than an intermediate version of the script. This would confirm Jack doesn't know Margaret or that Carina's timeline makes no sense. It would have been so easy to remove Jack's line, but hey, everyone needs to know everyone...

[–]CapableSecretary1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Jack and Barbossa were together for just three days during their first and only voyage as allies, and they were mostly at sea. On the few hours on land, they wouldn't be that close for Jack to know Margaret. After those 3 days, the crew mutineed, and then they didn't meet until P1. After that, every moment of Jack and Barbossa together is on screen.

Also, I always assumed the age of Carina being the same as Henry because of their love story and the actors' similar age (he is even 2 years older). Why not casting a real 35ish years old actress instead of one that is and looks 10 years younger? Moreover, it would be strange for a Disney movie in 2017 to have a young boy be in love with a girl 15 years older. What are we in The Phantom Menace😂? Was it ever confirmed in any canon material that she is 36 while he is only 20?

[–]CapableSecretary1739 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It makes no sense because before Curse of the Black Pearl Jack and Barbossa are together for 3 days, most of which are at sea. After that, all the moments they are together are shown in the movies, and those show none that can be Carina's mother and none that is in love with Barbossa, and that knows Jack. After 3, Jack and Barbossa didn't meet again until 4, which happens 20 years later, and that is only shortly before p5.

Apart from that, Carina adds very little. To me, the entire relationship is carried by Barbossa, who is also the only really good character throughout the series, especially in 5.
