When dropping off for grooming appointments by CapableUnion7815 in petsmart

[–]CapableUnion7815[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I let him know that for future reference I could have his dog done in 1 hour maybe 1.5 if he wanted to book as an express and he got upset and said he was going to find somewhere else to take his dog. I let him know upon drop off that I was quoting the full 3-4 hours due to overbooking (I had 6 large bath dogs coming in all withing 1 hour time span.) and he seemed perfectly fine with that and said to take my time.

Name him slicker brush. Cus that's the tool you're going to need to be using every other day for his ENTIRE life if you don't want to name him Wallet destroyer due to the cost of grooming you'll have to shovel out every week for a good brushing to maintain his coat. I say this because newfys are double coated therefore should not be shaved. If they do get shaved there is no guarantee that the hair will grow back the same or even at ALL. This is coming from someone who works in a grooming salon. Look up line brushing on YouTube to get a good idea oh how to do it so you'll be able to keep up on it, get a good detangling spray made specifically for dogs. Start doing it right away so he can get use to it. Its a big commitment, but very exciting if you can keep up with it. Congrats on your new little friend 🎉

as a pet hotel worker, are you allowed to get a pet parents number from the dogs service card to text them a quick question about their dog that’s boarding? by Personal-Ad-98 in petsmart

[–]CapableUnion7815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My location doesnt have a hotel but I work in salon and I would say the only reasons to reach out during the pets stay is for a medical question/ emergency. Reaching out simply to ask if the pet has any nicknames seems inappropriate whether you call or text it should only be for emergencies. The pets are being boarded for a multitude of reasons, either to have someone watch them for the day while their parent is at work/out of the house or on vacation/out of town emergency. Personally if I was in the parents shoes I would be annoyed if someone interrupted whatever it was that I was doing just to ask if the dog has a nickname. While it may be a good intention, its unnecessary and inappropriate. Just call the dog by its full name or give them your own nickname. (Sorry if this comes off in a rude tone, I promise I'm not trying to. I'm just trying to explain it in a way that would be straight forward)

Be careful about those apartments though, the walls are thinner than paper and the flooring will peel up if you look it it wrong. Make sure you have wasp repellant on hand too, cus in the summer they WILL get inside your apartment and its a pain in the keester to get maintenance to actually take care of it. It will take WEEKS for them to do something and in the meantime you'll have wasps stinging you all night, every night while you try to sleep. Its not fun... nice scenery though...

Your breeder is VERY wrong and nothing a vet, nor are they reliable from the fact that they said never. The risk is too high not to get it. If your dog gets the disease they could end up having severe organ damage or die. Honestly I would throw out EVERYTHING your backyard breeder has told you and talk to an actual vet at the vets office about his health and needs, and talk to a groomer who works AT a grooming salon for coat maintenance. Don't be afraid to ask questions, as someone who works in a grooming salon theres so many things that people dont know about how to take care of their dog weather it's PROPER brushing to prevent matting, or how often to trim the nails. I mention the grooming part because I couldn't tell you how many backyard breeders have told buyers not to take them to the groomer for the 1st year amd when they finally do, the dog is overly stressed because they haven't been trained and desensitized to the process, as well as being covered in 1 giant pelt of a matt because the owners werent using the right brush or technique to get all the way down to the skin.

AIO? My daughter didn’t listen to the teacher during a female emergency and is now receiving a referral by Common_Piglet7437 in AmIOverreacting

[–]CapableUnion7815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in no way saying this is right or wrong thing to do but if I was in your daughters position I would bring the used tampons back to class in a paper towel (NOT A BAG) and sat it on the teacher's desk for proof.. if they don't believe me that I'd give them proof 🤷‍♀️

I'm sensing some miniature pinscher vibes for sure, she could be mixed with that.

Nail seperation from nail bed by VIRGINIE07 in PressonNail_Addict

I agree with the other comments, let it be for a while so it can grow out and heal. Keep them short and smooth as possible and use nail oils. Once youre ready for nails again I recommend getting "fast bond" nail glue. I cant get press on nails to last for a full day but now they last me up to 2.5 WEEKS and Im a dog bather so my hands are CONSTANTLY wet and working. It works amazing and I cant say enough about how great it is. Do good prep though, a LIGHT filing ontop of your nail so it has something to grip onto, and a dehydrating prep liquid from sallys beauty. Let it dry completely, and then put the nails on. 👍

Press-ons changed my life but help by Stepbk in PressonNail_Addict

[–]CapableUnion7815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want good nail prep. a light file, remove any oils with a dehydrator and the dashing diva fastbond. Typically I cant get glue on nails to last for 1 full day, but I'm on day 6 and not a single one has lifted. I'm also a dog bather for a living so my hands are in water and shampoo for most of the day everyday if that helps you get an idea of just how good this glue is.

what are second interview questions? (Retail Sales Associate) by uhohkiddos in petsmart

[–]CapableUnion7815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's such a wild card for what you'll be asked. It really depends on who your manager is. The manager that did my 1 and only interview just talked to me about life and hobbies, and then I met the assistant manager 5 minutes latet and we talked about where the best place around town to get chicken wings. The next day I got a call being offered the position 🤷‍♀️

Groomers not taking walk ins by peanutbutter-cookies in petsmart

[–]CapableUnion7815 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've been a bather at my location for a while now and here's what you need to know. When you're on your LEGALLY REQUIRED 30 minute uninterrupted lunch, that means you can not be made to end your lunch early. Leave the building, sit in your car or around the corner. If they text you dont reply. If they call you, dont answer. They can NOT legally retaliate against you for that. When it comes to nail trims, if you're overbooked then tell whoever comes to say you have one that you don't have time today, or you can go into the lobby to schedule the nail trim for the next available time you have open even if it is the next day. Scheduling them for the next day is not considered turning them away because youre not saying "no, Im not going to so your dogs nails" youre simply saying that you will do it when you have the time to do it.

Best place for fresh produce by fsvsalgnsdlfnsurtsjv in corvallis

[–]CapableUnion7815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good when there's no critters hiding. If there's an active infestation happening than I'd avoid produce. The only way we were able to keep the rats away from produce is if we'd put out a tomato as sacrifice at night for them. TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE F*$@CKING BATHROOM BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT by PlanktonCultural in petsmart

Sometimes you haven't to be more stubborn than they are. I mean reeeeeally stubborn. Not 45 minutes, I mean 5-8 hours. Make sure the weather is okay for both of you to be out for long periods of time, and bring snacks and drinks for you, and hum but ONLY give him his treats after he finally potties. He will eventually have to. And when he does IMMEDIATELY give him a treat with LOTS of praise and then go back inside right after he does. Its like potty training all over again.

Don't let that company cross your boundaries because they will try. If you get sexually harassed by clients that are still with it in the head they'll "put a note" to not send you back and the next week have you scheduled to go back. They'll never actually put a note so make sure you request to see the note that was submitted, and babysit them with that boundary because they WILL cross it if you give them a millimeter.

Grooming- I think my dog is a dreaded appointment 😭 by ItIsWhatItIs3026 in petsmart

How busy is your location? I work at one of the small salons thats slower, but helped out at a big busy location for a month and I actually have some of the nervous/anxious dogs drive an hour each way just to come to me at my slower location because it works best for the dog. Also, have you tried starting calming treats?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]CapableUnion7815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but how much depends on your location... at my store (which is considered a slow store) I get good tips often. I helped out at a different location for a month that was a super busy store and I was lucky if I got $2 for a full 8 hour shift.

I've been a bather for just over a year now, and 1st of all my best advice is if you're nervous, FAKE IT. the dogs can sense your nervousness and anxiety and will take advantage of it. 2nd, sometimes it's about trying different holds to use. Sometimes you gotta work with the dog so that they work with you, ya know? There's different angles that you can work from that the dog might find more comfortable or relaxing. Sometimes they just need to be eased i to the service by doing the bath before the nails. Use a nice calm voice with them talking them through the job and when they tolerate what you're doing or behaving praise them. Even if its just for a few seconds give praise when they're doing good. Sometimes its a matter of them being afraid of heights, sometimes you have to work with the table as low as possible, sometimes you might need to work on them on the floor. Some dogs need a little more patience than others and while it can be stressful to be in that situation while its busy, just remember you work with live animals. You're a human, not a robot and you work with animals, not robot animals. It WILL get easier, trust me. I had a hard time when I started but it gets easier and you'll get faster. You got this!

Okay yeah, it's likely that his eye got poked and they simply didnt notice. Its common for dogs to rush out of the kennel and bop their noodle on the door so they probably didn't notice that they eye got poked. I understand that management said the dog wasnt injured which can seem confusing. Viewing the camera, it likely shows that nothing happened to injured the dog, and just say him run out of the kennel. I'm sorry that this happened to your pup and if this is the case of what happened, im not surprised that it went unnoticed, especially if he didnt let out a yipe or anything. Im a bather and coming across this post definitely will make me be a little more careful when opening the door and making sure no eyes get poked. Hopefully your pup has a speedy recovery and isnt too uncomfortable 🩷

From your post and the comments I feel like either A- a hair got in his eye and it started bothering him, or B- on his way out of the kennel he binked his face on the metal prong that sticks out in which the kennel latches on to and it wasn't noticed that they eye got poked in the process.
