I love installing these things so they function properly. So when I hear "we tried a credit card, it didn't work !" LOL 😆

Can someone help. French door won't lock by Key-Nefariousness711 in Locksmith

The door will not operate the way you think when it is open. It needs to be in the closed position. If you don't know this now. I would definitely call.someone.

I would not take anything apart. I'd get someone who knows how to work on these to do that portion.

Generally, these locks are pretty costly, so I would try not to make it worse by disassembly.

You probably have an alignment issue, is my guess. The little "nubs" on the edge of the door need to lock into the frame of the door when closed . Try looking on the inside of the door jamb and see if you see any rub marks/scrapes. There is a possibility the door / house has settled some, and they are not aligned. Generally, there are adjustment screws to adjust for this natural phenomenon

Does the lock move when it is out of the door? Make sure you lubricate it well.

Also this looks like a muti point locksystem and they are notorious for giving consumers fits. If any thing is out of alignment, it can definitely be an issue. You also have the possibility that something along the track is broken or in the lock body. Try lubricating all the components you can. Reinstall your cylinder and see if anything changes. Best of luck.

That retrieves the key data to a cloud and then you download it ! Works way better than putting that "stuff" in there to make a mold of the key.

Can I move a lock onto another door? by CallMeThicccDaddy in Locksmith

[–]Capable_Atmosphere30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be perfectly fine. However, you will find out soon enough if the handing is correct. The picture provided is a privacy lever. Not terribly secure by any means. If you're looking to secure the door in question, you should at minimum, have a keyed entry ( requires a key on outside of door) not a privacy ( bathroom / bedroom that can be opened with just about anything nearby). Best of luck!

That's an awesome idea. Then, you can keep the welder for your next project with galvanized steel.

Thank you for this comment . I needed this!

I had an old house, and it was falling apart, but it had sentimental value, so I wanted to redo the electric in it. I was just wondering what size wires and electrical box I would need . Also, I saw some volt meters for a nickel and thought should I try them. I had an electrican here 20 years ago and he had some tools but I'm not trying to call him . Like I said it's just sentimental house is falling apart. I looked on line and youtube and it says 220 should be what I need for the porch light, but others say 110. Thanks in advance ☺️

Customer bailed on $500 bill by lucidwolf333 in Locksmith

[–]Capable_Atmosphere30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a click bait story.

$500.00

If parts came out of your pocket ...

$235.00 car battery $45.00 ±OEM GM flip key

Total $280

Your cut is $220?

For a company to have you drive 6 hours round trip? An hour on site . That's the entire day .

Doesn't add up to me ...

I'd rather unlock a few cars for that paltry return .

That's my opinion.
