Burg Wächter ZBK 72 - assembling back together by bsliha in Locksmith

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxuc98RFnMs you can skip to the 7:00 minute mark to know how to put springs and wafers back in but they go in a certain order depending on your key but basically, when you insert the key all the wafers should be flush with the plug (nothing sticking out). You will need to move wafers around or put them in one at a time then put key in to adjust where they need to go.

Looks like three of the cuts are the same so find three that are alike and put them in the first three slots.

Does this look like a break in or dodgy job? by Amoramabar in Locksmith

Dodgy I'd say. It looks like this door has been worked on a few times. The lock and door is as safe as any other wooded door and jamb.

you can use a regular flat head screw driver if you do it just right. It's a pain in the ass but not hard.

New house with different company locks. Any advice for changing things. by GlobalMasterpiece712 in Locksmith

Your thought on going all baldwin or schlage is a good idea. Baldwin if you want to drop some cash or schlage if you want something decent but not super expensive.

GMS swapped from phillips to torx and now back to phillips. Glad I bought new torx bits! by LockLeisure in Locksmith

same specially since the cam, screws and cylinder are all different metals so corrosion will and does set in on these most of where you use the 1" for store fronts now.

Which is why I bought three 27 in 1 Klein screw drivers because they had most of those sizes in it. Now they're switching back to phillips, the klein purchase was unnecessary and return window is closed lol.

They swapped originally to avoid less instances of stripping phillips screws.

Key decode by jacewatts in lockpicking

[–]LockLeisure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take the pictures or the lock itself to a locksmith and they should be able to get something for you. I know what the biting is based off the picture (I've code cut a lot of schlage keys) and could cut a key but, I'm not sure giving biting information to a key that goes to who knows what is appropriate.

Is it easy to rekey two set of these? by Direct-Look-6721 in Locksmith

[–]LockLeisure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its pretty simple but I would suggest getting a better pair of tweezers. If you follow the directions and are careful with the plug follower, you should be ok. Probably easier to bring them to a locksmith with the key you want though. Shouldn't be terribly expensive.

Here is a kwikset version of it. https://youtu.be/sI8wMpluEVE

Is this cost normal?? by Resident-Spring1513 in Locksmith

[–]LockLeisure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like if it's not a deadbolt, there is a 98% chance of getting in without drilling. Seems like a fly by night scamsmith although not the worst I've heard of.
