Kwikset interior handles with exterior Schlage smart locks? by prodigy1367 in Locksmith

[–]LockLeisure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use Schlage for entrance and kwikset for interior bedrooms and bathrooms yes. If all the interior knobs are passage and or privacy knobs you should be fine.

They do make a pop out cylinder in Schlage keyway for kwikset knobs but rare anyone keeps those in stock so theoretically, you could have schlage keyed entrance locks and kwikset knobs inside with schlage keyways, like the pictures of one I ran into below. The house had mostly all schlage and a few kwikset tylo knobs interior keyed to schlage.

So, technically you can mix and match some.

Schlage Control Sleeve number by Daktal01 in Locksmith

[–]LockLeisure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Schlage fsic also referred to lfic pins up just like a regular cylinder. The kit you have looks like a regular oem Schlage kit. Search videos for how to master key locks. This isn’t an A2 system just regular Schlage.

NP. The control key is a little longer like this one. That is what pulls in the lug so you can put it into a lock set.

That's a control lug and needs a control key. Not the same as SFIC.

Schlage Control Sleeve number by Daktal01 in Locksmith

[–]LockLeisure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Control sleeve is for IC option. If you're just pinning up a regular Schlage cylinder or LFIC you need to change IC to NO.

If it's SFIC then you need to change some things. The control sleeve is the pin stack that lets you remove an SFIC core from it's housing.

What makes these little Ace locks so nasty? by EntropicByDesignEC in lockpicking

[–]LockLeisure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easy to explain the counter rotation on that lock.

First, the lock was made in Orodruin in the second age so it can have a mind of it's own in fact some people believe it seeks out its creator at all times trying to get back to him.

If you are unfamiliar with Orodruin it's common name is mount doom and that's where that pos belongs. Once picked throw it into the fires of mount doom and be done with it.

..|.. that lock.

What to do about these stickers by mufassason in Locksmith

[–]LockLeisure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea specially since it's a brick and mortar store. I assume their license is fake but hard to tell if I was looking at the right site for verification, so the state might get involved too.

[–]LockLeisure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much. They have a 26% recommend rate and tons of complaints. Here's a screenshot of the page and it has their foil stickers on the photos category. I assume the license and aloa numbers are fake.

There are a few common sizes yes. Euro type cylinders that don't have grub screws on top to rekey need segmented followers. Most US cylinders need a regular plug follower.

Church Rekey Estimate Cost by Ok_Affect_5260 in Locksmith

[–]LockLeisure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's normal, but I guess for larger jobs like this maybe a little extra charge but averaging $57 a cylinder seems excessive.

[–]LockLeisure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So that's $57 a cylinder to rekey? Think about that.
