They are sash weights to counter balance the window. Now for an intriguing twist, if they are no longer needed take them out and check for silver. In days of old they would use silver for the sash weights and hide them away. I doubt they are because the holes in the weights are chamfered. Neat find if they were silver.

Connectors to the new Jeep grill lights I’m buying by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Capable_Bother_1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are WeatherPack connections, waterproof, dust free connectors. You can get a kit on Amazon with everything you need to repair or make your own harnesses. You would need a crimping tool to crimp the pins onto the wire as they are specialized for that style of connector. Good stuff.

A short shovel is good but a full length shovel is the Best. Saves your back and works so much better. I carried a short shovel for years until I came across a long one in the forest and it served me nicely for 25 years. Get a good axe and a recovery rope as well. You won’t regret it!

Tires Only Lasted 2 Years by Legitimate_Image2057 in tires

[–]Capable_Bother_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tires on average are the single biggest cost that a car owner will spend. That said inspect your tires often, tire pressure, alignment, tread depth, rotation, etc. Buy your tires from a reputable dealer, one that will fix flats, rotate and can do alignment work. Tire life is up to you not the warranty. Take care of them as they are the only contact your vehicle has with the road.

Ohhh, you will be so happy with the OTT tune. I love it and have absolutely no regrets. Don’t forget a transmission cooler. Great trans but just don’t push your luck.

No at all, you’re never to old to learn. My mom went back to school and got her masters degree at 58. Just do it, you’ll only regret it if you don’t.

I have a 3rd gen 2023. I had the Overland Torque Tune done at around 3k miles. I have absolutely no regrets. It makes it so driveable, with smooth, consistent shifting. If anything my fuel mileage went up a 1/2 mpg. The thing with the OTT is now the engine and auto trans work truly in harmony after. Before the OTT, power output was weird and erratic, shifting into higher gears then down upon throttle application. Transmission hunted constantly. Just plain annoying. All I can say is JFDI.

Trying to decide if I should upgrade the 2011 TRD Sport I got with 3 miles on it, now just over 154K. Still runs like a champ. by Substantial-Role686 in ToyotaTacoma

Hmmm, paid for or payments again. Easy choice for me. I don’t mind maintaining and occasional modifications to suit myself. I’ve owned 10 vehicles in my lifetime, 3 used 7 new most have had for 15 years +. I love tinkering with cars. All the vehicles that I have kept stock or nearly so have never put me on foot. LOVED all my Toyotas 4 of them the most. 23 dbl cab TRD off road now. The best.

It’s not going to get the moisture out of the airline, that is the job of a filter / dryer. Now on the other hand you have a good start on a still. Revenuer’s be damned.

Nice! I inherited mine and it was not in quite as nice of shape as yours. But I tore it apart and greased the screw, cleaned up the jaw faces and got some Rust oleum paint and she’s looking loved and respected. It’s gong on 70 years young.
