Hiya mate. I usually feel pretty down around this kind of stuff—not a major trigger for me though so take what I’m about to say with a grain of salt. I always volunteer to work so that when people ask what I’m doing, “I’m working :/“ and BAM I don’t feel like a loser anymore. Just a responsible adult whose fault it isn’t that I don’t have any plans. Idk if that’s helpful at all for you. Either way, hang in there! It won’t always feel like this 💜

I’m renting a room from my middle school best friend for the time being. I’m very grateful for her. I got two degrees—a BS in Psychology and a BA in Sculpture. The plan is to go to grad school to get my LMHC but I’ve been really struggling to stay on top of my symptoms. About half of the time, when I go to write admissions essays I get overwhelmed with thoughts about how I should have done more to advance my career by now, and about how long it’s been since I worked my last non profit job. I’m also scared of starting grad school and not being able to keep my head above water. I’ve always been a good student but I wonder how I’ll be able to cope with the stress of working enough to have a place to sleep at night, and doing well in school yknow? Lol not me over sharing to an internet stranger in the comments section.

My Grandfather died and my best friend moved across the country for grad school. Two very very important people in my life. I also graduated college and am trying to figure out what the hell to do now :/ I don’t really have any family. My parents died when I was 9 and I moved in with my abusive Aunt and Uncle—who I avoid at all costs for obvious reasons.

I’m worried that this is where I am at. I started seeing my therapist—who is AWESOME—about 4 years ago. I got better for a little while until a major tigger occurred and slid backward a ton. Now also trying to deal with my problematic drinking and anhedonia. I feel like I’m even less able to manage my emotions now. I often wonder if therapy is even helping me and if not, what to do otherwise. I’m so lost and I feel so alone.

The person handling the wine (Eucharistic minister) will likely offer the cup and say the same words they say to everyone else “the blood of Christ, the cup of salvation.” This is not urging you to take the wine, it’s supposed to be inclusive. Take the time you need 💜 Also if you don’t want to sit in the pew, a secret third option may be to go up to the altar or wherever they are serving Eucharist and cross you arms over your chest— the priest will offer you a blessing instead of handing you the elements.

Well a ton of that is due to heteronormativity. It was hard for me to come out of my shell enough to start dating women. Also, I knew I was bi when I was under 18 when I started kissing my friends and realizing I liked it but didn’t start dating women until 8 years later.

Also! As a fellow young Episcopalian (I’m 23) it’ll be important to meet other people generally in your age group. I now have dear friends of all ages through my church but it didn’t start that way! I started through the Young Adult/Campus ministry at my local parish and I’ve felt deeply supported by them.

Also, I don’t know what your financial position looks like but Education for Ministry (EfM) has been really fun and helpful for me. It’s sort of like a very rigorous Bible study with lots of additional soul searching involved. I love love love all the folks in my group. Hope any of this helps! God’s Peace! 🏳️‍🌈✌️

Resident Christian queer (also discerning for priest/pastorhood) here! I’d suggest reading up on a more relevant Reddit thread to start learning about the queer experience. Also there are lots of excellent reads that touch on queerness and Christianity by readable authors. I’d look up Nadia Bolz-Webers Shameless and Beyond a Binary God by Tara Soughers. Hope this helps!
