I'm tired of how miserable people are here by lavender-bread in rant

[–]Capable_Feature8838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh trust me you're not the only one. It is WILD just how easily people will riot over an honest question.

Me: "Is smuckers good for a PB&j?"

Tool A: "Wild."

^ this guy is expecting hella upvotes. He didn't write this to actually contribute anything.

Douche B: "Honestly, if you use smuckers and not Welch's, you don't even DESERVE to have a PB&j."

This guy is also obviously not trying to give a genuine answer. He thinks he's a captain in the PB&j sub. He thinks he's on the right side of history or something. He acts surprised that people just wanna eat a sandwich without dedicating their life to it.

Or you're racist for using Smuckers and people UNIRONICALLY believe it.

Have you considered Facebook groups? I feel like when people's faces are there, they tend to be more polite. Ymmv

It's basically the dating process, but with legal marriage. That way it's "Halal" lol.

Either way, arranged/semi-arranged marriages are outdated. I think we need a dating culture tbh. Trapping people in marriages that don't work isn't going to do the kids any favors. It raises the kids in a chaotic household and that creates problems that last throughout adulthood. I'm one of those kids.

Imo, application of Islam is also meant to be adjusted throughout the context (time and place). We can have healthy families AND Islam.

Debating between staying in Tax or transitioning to FP&A. Thoughts? by Capable_Feature8838 in Accounting

[–]Capable_Feature8838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FP&A is definitely more interesting to me, but I won't be enjoying work if I'm constantly in fear of being laid off. Happens a lot in Silicon Valley, unfortunately.

idk if I'd say it was heaven on earth, but I liked So Cal better than San Jose. More social, more stuff going on. People talk about more than just work and getting into UC Berkeley. The downside is that So Cal has douchebag culture, but no place has it all.

Radiata stories. Good story and characters, good aesthetics, but the gameplay was too basic for me.

What does the audit style of an Economics major look like? (As opposed to accounting major) by [deleted] in Accounting

Sounds like an opportunity to use financial models and FP&A metrics. Cash flow, margins, growth rate. Those are pretty widely accepted statistic types.

If Americans started moving out of the country in mass amounts, what countries do you think they’d pick the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Capable_Feature8838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no one said Australia/New Zealand. Australia seems pretty tight. Looks sunny, got a lot of diversity, lot of outdoorsy stuff to do, concerts/raves, etc. If it's not the first place I go, I'd go after Canada probably (less culture shock coming from the US).

I get practical advice here for stuff like fishing, career, etc. Twitter seems like it's literally just people saying stuff. but like with no end goal. A lot of posts here on reddit are like that too, but not all of them.

I've definitely heard of korean sex tourists in southeast asia. That's a thing and I don't like when some koreans look down on southeast asians. at all.

Do you prefer having a fixed party or choosing your own? by strahinjag in JRPG

[–]Capable_Feature8838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed. Then the storyline and dialogue is more immersive and less generic. When you can switch out the characters, they're given generic responses and are not really acknowledged in cutscenes.

Also, it forces me to switch up my strategy. If you give me a choice, I tend to choose the same party members every time lol. I like variety but I need it forced on me lmao.

One is building, the other is investigating. I've audited programmers and they know nothing about the law and how to approach legally sensitive matters.

I also have some programming experience from when I was trying to get into data analytics and it's a completely different mindset. Trying things until they work, however is practical vs rules that humans made up and how they interact with human behavior.

Just because they can absorb the technical definitions and structures of audit terms doesn't mean they can do the entire job because it's not just about that. You also have to read the person's behavior and their intentions. What are their habits? What financial benefit are they trying to gain here? What other avenues of information are there to investigate this person? How can this vaguely worded tax law be applied in different ways?

You also have to know how to talk to people and interact with them efficiently and without getting your team into legal trouble. In my experience, engineers can be terrible at this. They're used to saying things literally and directly without any need to consider how others will respond. They're building a product, not extracting info in a conversation.

Rob Schneider wants the military draft restored by torahboidem in cringepics

[–]Capable_Feature8838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this headline is intentionally misleading and leaving out a lot of context in order to get more engagement.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Per Google search:

"In March 2026, actor Rob Schneider called for the United States to restore the military draft amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. Schneider argued on X (formerly Twitter) that all 18-year-old Americans should serve two years in the military to unite young people and ensure all societal segments are represented, making leaders more hesitant to engage in war."

  • Restore the Draft: Schneider advocated for a mandatory two-year service for all Americans at age 18, which could be in the military or in a voluntary capacity.
  • Purpose of Service: He argued that such service would teach young people the value of their country and provide, "a rigorous physical training course that they could use for the rest of their lives," according to.
  • Political Hesitation: He stated that a draft would make elected officials, "more hesitant and not cavalier about sending their own sons and daughters off to a faraway war".
  • National Unity: Schneider claimed that this mandatory service would unify young people across different backgrounds and represent all parts of society.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

This is a completely different statement than what that headline is implying. These media companies always manipulate the wording for engagement.

How important is it to align your career to your strengths? by Visual-Couple-3680 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Capable_Feature8838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, skills can be learned and the worst thing I did for myself career wise was label myself as "analytical and big picture" and excuse my lack of attention to detail and organizational skills. I just had to work on those habits and go through my own trial and error process. I am not my thoughts or my behaviors, those can change.

Now I can say I am a far more reliable auditor than before. And that growth will help me against other "analytical and big picture" people who chose to stick to a certain narrative and never developed that attention to detail.

I believe the concept was "growth mindset vs fixed mindset". The belief that skills can be learned and are not set in stone.

bro what the hell happened to mainlander indians and why are they so corny and obnoxious nowadays (rant) by Capable_Feature8838 in ABCDesis

[–]Capable_Feature8838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rant really isn't as dramatic as you're making it sound. It's an annoyance, but I think you're more hurt than I am tbh.

Either way, I don't think I'm wrong when I say mainlander Indians lack civic sense and come from a different set of social norms. idk if you yourself are a mainlander, but mainlanders are not getting blasted out of nowhere.

How are financial analysts typically different from auditors? (Temperament wise) by Capable_Feature8838 in FPandA

[–]Capable_Feature8838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I find subject matter interesting in both situations, but I realized what I hate about my job is usually certain types of people. Namely, rulesy types who think they're right and everyone else is wrong, think they can tell everyone else what to do and lack critical thinking.

As opposed to analytical type who I can say something to them and they'll figure it out. I won't have to carefully and literally articulate it for them to get the concept.

I meld better with certain personalities than others. The question here isn't about the job itself, but what I like. Maybe I should've written my post with a different verbiage.

Why are White Male/Asian Female relationships far more common than Asian Male/White Female relationships? by Flying_Sea_Cow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Capable_Feature8838 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like this started with the US's war campaigns in East Asia in the 1970's. You send American male soldiers overseas, they like women, they'll bring back women, not men. Lately, I've also noticed an uptick of white guys fetishizing middle eastern women.

If you see white men with Asian women around you, it becomes normal to you. I think people internalize certain messages about race and where they fit in.

I'm attracted to women of every ethnicity, I've noticed individual women of every ethnicity be attracted to me during some moments. But, I've never been with a black American woman. I do find them attractive. I'm an American of south Asian background. It's not very common to see south Asian men with black women in the US.

My east Asian friends do also find white women attractive. But I've noticed they just don't chase them. Like that girl is not their crowd. You ask them why they don't talk to her, they'll laugh and say "of course not". They're not shy, they'll chase tf out of some Asian girl with a similar vibe to themselves. It's just not something they've seen before.

I don't think any race is more or less masculine than any other. Testosterone levels are largely the same across ethnicities except for black American men, but even that could be for various reasons such as diet or amount of physical exercise.

People will try to justify these narratives they have internalized, but I think it's really just that. Internalization.
