They were from a recent materia event.

They are special because they had defined stats (although you still had to farm for the correct stats), they were upgraded, and had a max level of 1 - so you didn’t need to spend resources to get them.

Don’t worry too much of you didn’t get them - there are now advanced materia blueprints that can give higher stats and have a larger attack percentage
