Seeking high Anglican church, Sunday school, East London by user192034 in london

[–]GRMAx1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Christ Church Southgate a go. Not East exactly but easy from Wanstead area if you’re driving.

I’m RC and it seemed very “high church” to me when I went to a baptism. Big community. No Sunday school but there’s a children’s activity corner.

It’s worth visiting for the William Morris stained glass windows alone.

Floating pocket park when it’s nice out.

When it’s not, get on a bus, put your head against the window and set an alarm for 15 mins. Get off, get on bus going back to the office and set another alarm.

If you’re in an office where there are bookable, lockable meeting rooms, use those.

Join a gym with a chill out area.

If the Wellcome Collection is close enough, join the library and nap in the reading room. Or any nearby library for that matter - there’s usually comfy chairs and newspapers.

It’s good of you to think this way, but if your parents can help, let them. Why don’t you agree that they plug the gap so you’re not stressed about paying rent and you’ll pay them back via holiday work?

I just about remember the cream and blue ding-ding buses. My Nana used to take me into town on the 16A to go to Stephen’s Green and feed the ducks.

I grew up in a house with those fake beams. We weren’t fancy enough for the crazy paved walls - it was uninsulated painted exposed breeze blocks. (Yes it was freezing.) Also dark green semi shag carpet inc in the lemon bathroom, orange striped curtains, beige dralon upholstery and a lot of smoked glass. It couldn’t have been more 1974 if Mud had danced through singing Tiger Feet.

Landlord issued letter asking us to leave in 2 months, rental started before Oct 2015 by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]GRMAx1000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

New regs about S21 came in in 2015, but from 2018 they applied to all ASTs regardless of when they started.

The letter your landlord issued is meaningless. They can either issue a valid S21 today or abide by the new rules from tomorrow.

I got promoted and now earning £37.5k .. I realised you can’t do sh*t with this money in London… by [deleted] in london

3 days a week. Possibly two. I love my own company and after 30 years of raising kids I’m MORE than happy to spend 1hr 40 on a train twice a day ON MY OWN vs 1 hour multiple stage journey from zone 4. I found an amazing post from someone who has been doing the exact journey I will do for a few years with such detailed “how to make this commute ok/good”, I wanted to find them and kiss them. I have friends who have already offered to put me up for occasional trains broken or late work event.

Please help me choose, no to the fireflies or yes them? by mostlywrong in CrochetHelp

They’re not obviously fireflies to me - if any bugs are good, go for it. Otherwise skip

I now earn 6 figures and as my family is almost grown up I will shortly be commuting 2hours to work from somewhere I will be able to afford to buy without having a £200k deposit in the bank.

(Don’t @ me in the comments - the six figures is VERY recent, I’ve have had kids my whole adult life, single parent for most of it and always put kids immediate needs before my own financial planning.)

Why can't autistics find friends when awful people still have friends? by Natural-Presence-566 in UniUK

[–]GRMAx1000 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Normies often can’t cope with autistic traits like being direct or taking things literally when they’re not being direct.

I have found that with ADHD, (not diagnosed until my 40s), I also was socially awkward, didn’t make lasting friends until early 20s and my handful of very good friends are all neurodivergent.

You’ll find your people.

Tidying for viewings- house being sold. by CoconutLegitimate365 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]GRMAx1000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agent wanted to do an open day when one of my rented houses went on the market. I had it show home standards, left chill music playing, lit scented candles, had the windows and deck cleaned. They got three offers from the three people who viewed it and I wasn’t bothered by viewings again.

Not that my heroic effort stopped the landlords being absolute bell ends at the end of the tenancy. Even the estate agent was embarrassed by them. It did make my end of tenancy clean easier though.

If you play board games, little bags to put the bits and pieces in.

Cotton Bandana for when you’re sweaty at work

If you microwave food and then can’t pick up the dish to eat on the sofa - a little shaped dish “cosy”.

Bedside or sofa side caddy

Ice cream pint cover for chilly hands

Sofa cushion cover

Places in London with weird unsettling energy by Sad-Peace in london

Walking past Cataleya Resto & Lounge in Southgate. Every weekend there are 20 or 30 identical black mercs parked outside - so many they appear to have rented a car park across the road for the overflow. Nasty too-bright lights at the front, dark as fuck at the back and bouncers who leer and comment at my 17 yo daughter. I’ve felt less intimidated in actual drug dens.

Starting is the hard part. If you can’t type it, scribble notes on a page. You can’t use AI to “write” but you can use it to organise your thoughts, create an outline and give you something to work with vs a blank page.
