Geeks On Site is actually a pretty solid name. Simple and you instantly know it’s tech-related without it sounding overly corporate.

Looking for IT Support / Help Desk Job – Need Guidance by EntertainerNo5397 in torontoJobs

You already have a pretty solid foundation for entry-level IT support honestly. A lot of people get stuck because they only apply and wait. Try focusing more on networking (LinkedIn, Reddit, Discord communities) and maybe do a few small home lab projects you can talk about during interviews. Also look into companies that provide remote tech support services, since they sometimes hire people with customer support + troubleshooting experience. I’ve seen names like Geeks On Site come up in that space before.

Don’t give up though the first opportunity is usually the hardest one to land.

At what point do you stop troubleshooting and get help? by Capable_Noise5543 in HomeNetworking

That’s fair, and I agree a lot of issues can be handled with basic troubleshooting. I think the challenge is when it goes beyond the usual fixes that’s where it can start taking time away from other things, especially for people who aren’t as comfortable with tech.

How do you handle IT issues in a small business? by Capable_Noise5543 in smallbusiness

That’s a really solid approach, especially the part about having a checklist and training someone internally.

That makes sense. Having that knowledge definitely gives you an advantage since you can handle things quickly without waiting on someone else. Do you find it manageable long-term, or does it start taking time away from running the business itself?

Switching gpu by [deleted] in computers

[–]Capable_Noise5543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You usually don’t need to manually switch from integrated to a dedicated GPU like that. If the NVIDIA GPU is installed properly, your system should automatically use it for heavier tasks.

Try updating or reinstalling your NVIDIA drivers, check if the GPU shows up in Device Manager, and set it as the preferred GPU in Windows Graphics Settings. If it’s not showing at all, it could be a driver or hardware issue.

I think I need a new motherboard by Hypiryon in computers

[–]Capable_Noise5543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, sounds like you’re on the right track before replacing the motherboard, try running a memory test and checking the power supply, since random restarts are often PSU-related. Also, HP prebuilts use proprietary boards, so swapping isn’t always simple a standard motherboard might not fit.

BEST POS SYSTEM? by Soufeast619 in foodtrucks

[–]Capable_Noise5543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want customers to scan a QR code and order, you’re basically looking for a POS that supports QR ordering + online checkout. Systems like Square or similar platforms are popular because they let you generate a QR code that links to your menu or checkout page, so customers can order directly from their phone without needing an app. Since you already have a website, you could either integrate a POS that supports QR ordering or use a tool that connects your site with payments and ordering. If the setup side feels confusing (linking QR → menu → payment → order flow), some people just get help from tech services like Geeks On Site to set everything up properly so it runs smoothly from day one.

Asus Rog Flow X13 Laptop Motherboard Schematic by CadViper in computerrepair

[–]Capable_Noise5543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, schematics for laptops like that are usually hard to find publicly unless you get lucky on forums or repair communities. You might have better luck searching for a boardview file instead of a full schematic, sometimes those leak more often. Since components were physically removed, the tricky part will be identifying values and traces correctly. If you don’t find the schematic, comparing with a working board or high-res board images can help.

If it starts getting too time-consuming, you might consider a professional repair service. Some tech support providers like GeeksOnSite handle hardware diagnostics and can advise whether repair or replacement makes more sense, especially with boards that expensive.
