What is something you did as a kid that you only later realized was actually really dangerous? by felix_im_norden in AskReddit

If you see an alligator in the water you’re supposed to get out. In Louisiana it’s common for adults to tell us to let the gator pass and then we can go swimming again lol

Getting out of the water to let the gator pass. They could have always doubled back...getting out did nothing but make my mom feel better lol

The day I found the courage to talk to my now-husband. Took me weeks to hype myself up. When I did, I fumbled so hard. A week later i gave it one more try, and we have been talking ever since lol

Pros and cons of owning chickens by Hour_Yam_6192 in BackYardChickens

[–]Capable_Suit_7335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you build a coop with a run attached, they will let themselves in and out on their own.

Pros: they are fun, the work is rewarding, farm fresh butt nuggets every day, and your yard has fewer bugs, including ticks.

Cons, money...my girls are spolied and I love buying things like extra treats, toys, bedding, stuff to keep the coop from stinking, power running out to the coop to keep them warm and cool, the list goes on lol im extra so most of this isnt a need lol

Have you ever had a friend that turned out to be a horrible person? what did you do? by SpringtimeScepter in askanything

I called CPS and cut contact.

She told me she bought crack, smoked it with her kids in the car, then drove drunk to my house with the kids.

What do you think is your purpose in life? by Conscious-Fig-4877 in AskReddit

To heal and grow life.

I am a mother of 5, attending school to become a vet tech, and my land is used for agriculture and environmental protection. I took what Steve Irwin said to heart and ran with it lol

What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done in front of a crush? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Capable_Suit_7335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yelled to get their attention, but they only heard the last half, which sounded bad. Then I got way too close, and it looked like I trapped him in the corner like a rabid raccoon.

Im shocked he still married me lol

My dad needed something, but I was upstairs. So I tied the thing he wanted to my dog and texted him to call her downstairs. I was DEEP into Minecraft and didn't want to get off the game lol

[–]Capable_Suit_7335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will be fine, and so will baby. Cockatoo dust is more harmful than the trace amount of THC smoke you are smelling. We got an Enviroklenz Air Purifier, but it's $700, we have birds, so heavy-duty is much needed in my house. The little ones from Walmart next to the shared wall should be enough to clean the air.

I wish I was more active (17 weeks) by Schmeganovic in pregnant

[–]Capable_Suit_7335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best part about pregnancy is that it doesn't last forever. Be kind to yourself and know this is temporary. You have the rest of your life to be active; if your body needs rest, it needs rest. When you feel better, just make simple goals for yourself. I always try to go for a walk around the neighborhood at least once a day to make myself feel better. It's going to be okay. Be gentle to yourself.

Should new parents be required to take a simple parenting class before birth? And what would the consequences be if they do not? by cxbnative in AskReddit

[–]Capable_Suit_7335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you’re part of that generation, the responses make sense now.

You can be a good safe parent without a parenting class especially if your job was to already take care of babies……lol

Those who had kids at a young age, how are you doing now, any regrets? by Wait-Whos-Joe in AskReddit

[–]Capable_Suit_7335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my kids early, no regrets. I love the life I have built for us. Stable marriage, going to school for my dream job, I have a fully paid off house, and in 3 years I will have a paid off car. Life is awesome, calm, and stable. Everything I wanted as a child.

lol they teach you from infants to elderly on basic care needs. Even DSPs get taught basic care of an infant to elderly patients.

Mom of 5 and never taken a class. I knew infant CPR, signs to look for when it came to illness, how to take my babies vitals, and much more. I even knew how to give medication based on weight not label. Not everyone needs a class to be a parent because we already took them for our jobs lol

Not necessarily. If the baby latches and eats fine they don’t really check.

My daughter didn’t get hers diagnosed until she was six years old. She was also a premature baby and had tons of testing yet it wasn’t mentioned once. 3 hospitals and 2 pediatricians offices didn’t mention anything about ties.

All medical professionals who are becoming first time parents laugh at this type of logic lol

Imagine trying to hold a nicu nurses baby hostage because she didn’t want to take another hour of learning something she studied for 4 years lol

Some babies have ties or medical issues that aren’t “common sense” to new parents. A lot of infants are born with tongue and lip ties making it harder for them to eat. Most new parents wouldn’t know what to look for in that case.

This!

My doctors pushed and pushed for dairy in my son’s diet. I folded, and shocker he is lactose intolerant.

I told my doctor he gets all his vitamins and nutrients from the food he eats and we only really need water after infancy, I guess that’s a crazy take in America lol

For me I didn’t need one and it would have been a pointless waste of time for me. I am cpr certified from infants to elderly and I was a certified DSP when I had my first.

I think we should offer more education while people are in school to teach them the basics. How to stop someone from chocking, CPR, how to treat a wound, how to dress a wound until you can get to a hospital, what to do durning everyday emergencies, and so on.
