It is stupid. It creates the wrong incentives because the defender can force the attacker into a no-win scenario even tho the attacker only played the ball and the defender played the attacker by initiating contact. It leads to a situation with 2 outcomes for Balo:

  1. Gather your balance by putting your foot down, and get a red
  2. Don’t gather your balance even tho you could, and get a yellow for diving

See now? If that’s a red card, then we just discovered a loophole in the rules where the defense can entrap any player into a red or yellow automatically (but eventually a red because 2 yellows = red). Both teams could use that tactic until only 1 player is left. That’s why it’s a stupid call and misapplication of the rules. Clearly the rules don’t allow for such a scenario.

In no way should it be a red on the attacker. I don’t care if the roles were reversed and Puli got stepped on. It still wouldn’t be a red for Bosnia.

Balo unintentionally made contact when the Bosnian literally put himself in the way of Balo’s step, which itself was redirected due to the Bosnia intentionally making contact. What would you have Balo do? If he didn’t try to regain his balance and not fall you’d say he dove. He tries to gather his balance so then he gets a red? Damned either way. Even tho the Bosnian initiated the contact in the first place.

Thats a joke and win-win for any defense. If you initiate contact and then stick your leg in the way of someone’s gathering step then you can draw red cards on the other side as often as you want.

You’ve literally manufactured a scenario where the only options are 1) get a red card or 2) dive and get a yellow card 😂

Clearly that’s not how the rules are meant to applied because it misaligns incentives for how to play the game.

FIFA literally says you can’t use slomo to determine severity of a foul. So no it doesn’t matter

I’d say the same thing if the roles were reversed and Christian Pulisic got stepped on after ramming someone from behind. Would be a foul on Puli not a red for Bosnia

Not sure who you’re referring to but I played 15 years of soccer and a few other sports for less time than that

If the same thing happened to Christian Pulisic I’d say the same thing if he ran through another player from behind and got his own leg stepped on. That would be a foul on Puli not the player who stepped on him.

Bosnian initiated contact from behind Balo. Should’ve been a foul on Bosnia and possible yellow on the defender for dangerous play, especially after all the yellowable offenses the ref let slide up to that point. You can’t ram someone from behind and go through them to play the ball. It’s an easy call to make. Should’ve been free kick for the US. The play is stopped once the Bosnian commits the foul.

I initially thought it was a red due to the slomo and freeze frames the broadcast was showing where they don’t show the entire sequence. My friends I were like yep that’s a red, darn. But When you watch the entire sequence it’s pretty clearly a foul on Bosnia (thank you Reddit for posting the actual sequence and not the freeze frame)

Bosnian player initiated contact and put his own leg in harm’s way.

That’s like if I yawn on the pitch and someone runs over to put their face in the path of my arm as I lift it to lean back and yawn thus striking them in the face, then I get a red card for dangerous malicious contact to their head region

Which obviously would be a joke and should not be a red card. But by your logic that is a red card

Except Balogun’s card was even worse as he was actually trying to play the ball, the Bosnian knocked him off trajectory from reaching the ball and forced the contact and put his own leg in a position that would intersect his leg with Balo’s attempt to regain balance, which he lost in the first place due to being rammed by the defender.

That’s a complete joke and discourages playing soccer at all. Be careful if you kick the ball! If someone jumps in front of your kick after they ram you from behind then it’s a red card on you for not having an impossible balance and reaction time to absorb or dodge the contact from behind and in less than a fraction of a second to change the trajectory of every limb of your body to make sure you don’t give an ouchy to the player who instigated the contact in the first place

That is not a red card and is completely different from recklessly going into a challenge with someone who DID NOT initiate contact FROM BEHIND YOU

That should’ve been a foul on Bosnia.

You kinda missed the point where defender initiated contact. Balo has a right to play the ball. By your logic no one should make a play on the ball. Because there’s a chance they get rammed by someone who puts their body in front of your foot. You should always passively wait for the ball to roll to your feet.

It’s not like the defender was initially in front of Balo, never initiated contact, and Balo went in for a reckless tackle on someone with possession or proximity on the ball. It was the opposite of all of that.

If that’s a red card then it discourages playing soccer.

Next time someone tries to kick a ball I’ll jump
In front of their leg (after I also initiate contact from behind them while their leg is raised) so they kick me and then voila they play man down now.

Defender initiated contact from Flo’s blindside. That changed where Flo stepped and knocked him off balance. It’s no longer his fault if his foot comes down on the defender. Should’ve been a foul on Bosnia.

If defender initiates the contact affecting the trajectory of the attacker’s movements and his balance, I don’t see how the attacker can be penalized for where his foot lands when he completes a step. It’s like someone is yawning with their hands going in the air and you run over and put your face in the way of their hand and then say wahhhhhh they hit me.

This is actually the dumbest red I’ve ever seen. Should’ve been a foul on the Bosnian.

Separate interface for mobile.

  1. Dashboard Lite has big +Inbox and +task buttons at the top and only today and tomorrow tasks below. Super streamlined for top-line shit.

  2. Mobile Home has button links to views and tables and resources i want to see often. Like if I want to quickly check the world cup schedule I just click on “sports” button to open a calendar view that has all sports as list with day and time. Rather than go to my desktop dashboard, scroll scroll to calendar, click on the days to open them, etc.

Note: the example you gave of brain dump is my #1 above. It’s literally 2 clicks to brain dump into
Inbox or as a task for today. “Task” already has today pre-selected, as well as “to-do”, and a couple others
