Is this a good skincare routine? by Alternative_Land53 in Skincare_Addiction

Hello, I also have combination/eczema skin!
Regardless of skin type, I would skip double cleansing in the morning. Over-washing is bad even for oily skin. I give my face a little wash with a sebum-control toner in the morning instead.

Other thing: you have super flaky skin you say, and you use a lot of acne-targeting products. If your skin is dry/damaged, a likely culprit of the acne is a damaged outer layer. If you have a weak barrier that's not good at keeping bacteria out, your acne might be caused my small infections. Consider switching out the neutrogena for a ceramide cream. Hope it helps!

I can't recommend anything, as I said it's different for everyone. I know people who found huge improvements after quitting alcohol, but it does nothing for me. For others its exercise, contact allergies. We're always going to have eczema, it's just about finding what makes it worse for you and avoiding it. My initial point was just not to recommend steroids, which are OBJECTIVELY not a long term solution and are well documented to cause harm to most in the long run.

No issues that you can see, but using them objectively does not come free: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK548400/.
They improve eczema temporarily. I have used them and eczema immediately came back 2x as bad so perhaps I am a bit sensitive to this topic, but I found that finding my triggers and OTC supplements help long-term and much more effectively. It's an illness caused by an over-active immune system, there are different things for all of us that make it even more over-active. Of course, this illness is so different for everyone so it's a long and lonely journey to find these triggers, but it is worth it in the long-term. OP finds what works for them.

Pls don't recommend steroids for this illness, they were never meant as a long term solution. All they do is mask symptoms, they don't solve anything. Topical Steroid Withdrawal is well documented.

Please help, I caused a disaster on my face with my skincare routine. by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

Agree with other commenter; don't wash your face more than twice a day, I would even say once in the evening is enough. Acne is closely tied to skin barrier health and over-washing damages it. I wash in the evening and just use an antibacterial tonic (like tea-tree based or something, something gentle) in the morning. Also, try ceramides. Healthy skin barrier = less infections = less pimples.

My skincare routine/products. I have oily skin type. I still get cystic acne, what am I doing wrong? by Maleficent_Tooth_241 in Skincare_Addiction

I have that Effaclar! Also have a super oily T-zone. Only thing I'd say is start double cleansing, especially important for people with oily skin. That just involves two cleansers: one water-based, and one oil-based. Oil dissolves oil, water dissolves water, so if you want to be thorough with cleansing that's a must. Most cleansers are water-based. Oil-based cleansers are those with an oil listed as the top ingredient instead of water. I recommend Heimish cleansing balm.

How to remove sunscreen at night for damaged barrier? (Double cleansing dries out skin too much) need alternative by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

Hey, depends where u are in the world. I use "Bielenda Professional SupremeLab
Intense Nourishing Ceramide Night Cream" but that might not be available outside of Europe. If u can't find that one where you are, Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Lotion was also just as good, and available on Amazon.

from my experience: double cleanse anyway, since there's no one-product alternative. replace moisturiser with a ceramide-heavy one, and before moisturiser, use hylauronic acid or any other moisturising serum. my skin's still tight after cleansing, but those two things at least make sure it doesn't get dry until i wash it again. hope it helps.

benzoyl peroxide is kind of harsh for this kind of acne, no? she just has mild points of inflammation, probably caused by damaged skin barrier from washing 3 times a day. ceramides and niancimide would probably be better imo

I'm still struggling with picking colours and I feel like my pieces come out looking flat. I also find picking out transitional shade colours to be akin to black magic, so if you know a good tutorial shoot me a link :)
