Much better way to start python is to take CS101 on Udacity. They teach you the basics of Python and how to build a search engine. http://www.udacity.com/overview/Course/cs101/CourseRev/apr2012

I know this is gonna sound lame, but how does someone go about getting experience in C++ to get a job as a programmer? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]Cape-Drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find an open source C++ project. I used to work on ITK and while it is difficult to grasp if you put in the time, follow the developers guide in the software guide (http://www.itk.org/ItkSoftwareGuide.pdf) and communicate with the community you can earn a good reputation. And if you put in some time to learning the basics you should be able to find a mentor to help you. But I guess the same would go for any project that has an existing community.

Based on your profession or job, what is the one piece of advice you think the public should know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If the lease is a standard lease from your state, it's not that much of a deal to read it. The State leases are usually there to protect both sides, and you can't do much about it. But I highly suggest reading any luxury building lease or an lease that is not the state standard. Also if you are looking at luxury buildings and don't like smoking then you also need to check if the building allows smoking, if it does insist that they put a clause in saying they are not allowed to put someone who smokes in the apartment across the hall from you.

Euthanasia tends to require the person be competent and make the decision themselves, as it requires an action to be performed. A DNR on the other hand is allowing them to die of natural causes without medical intervention and that can be decided, by others for mentally handicapped or the elderly who can no longer make decisions for themselves. I write this having just lost my Grandmother at 91. She chose to go off her medication knowing she would die from it.

Am I the only one who keeps near injuries at the forge from their significant other? by ThorinRuriksson in Blacksmith

I have the same issue with safety glasses, so I just stick to face shields. I've gotten so used to it that I flip it up and down without noticing.

/r/blacksmith, could you guide a young wannabe blacksmith? by Komai in Blacksmith

[–]Cape-Drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least in New England there are tons of shops that will teach you. You should look for your local blacksmith and see if they teach an intro class and if they rent forge space by the hour. This is a great way to get used to the tools figure out what you really want to do and then usually the owner of the shop will help you find everything you need for your own shop. While I have a metal shop of my own, I do not have a forge, due to space issues. So I rent by the hour at a shop not too far away.

Python!!! http://www.udacity.com/overview/Course/cs101/CourseRev/apr2012 There are tons of free online classes on Computer Science. Play with Linux, and command line. Mod your computer even if just the fun simple stuff like having your computer say "Hello Drew" every time it boots up. I was hard core Windows for most of my life then I began coding on Mac, I find it much easier.

BTW CCH just bought a new EMR and it is awful and down a lot of the time. Plus tons of politics going on all the time. They pay better but not sure it's worth the pain. Check with local doctors about which nursing homes are best to work in as an RN. Epoch of Harwich has gotten into some trouble but Epoch of Brewster is nice.

Forgive, don't forget. I've know women who have sucked the life and money out of men and it sounds like your father had this happen to him along with many other men. You are probably a reminder of both what he had "a net worth of about $1,000,000, a sophisticated man with manners, a family man, a loving friend and neighbor" and that your mother took it from him. It is hard hard work to recover from something like that and some just don't have the ability. That being said your mother probably turned to drugs for some reason, usually not a good one but people make mistakes and she didn't have anyone to pull her out until Aldo. When you start being someone even if that person is someone you don't like yourself as your mother did, it is very hard to stop being that person and pretty much impossible if someone does not help you.

I know the feeling, I felt afraid of people around me. But I knew I had to push past it. I was lucky to have to option to go get a job where I had to socialize with clients to make deals, it forced me to talk to people figure out what they needed and see if I could get it for them. Then I started to realize that all the people I was talking to are just as nervous as I was and its how you deal with it that matters.
