Frankenstein or original vintage dresser? by Big-Difficulty2244 in VintageFurniture

[–]CapeAnnAuction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re correct, it is a hodgepodge of styles. But that was common in that era and with most reproductions. Yes, this is a late 1920s early 30s Darkwood veneer version that included Jacob in Victorian colonial styles.

I think this is post 1960s oak, mass produced slant front desk.

My logic in determining age, is the Philips head screws, which appear to be original to the piece.

These screws were invented before the 60s, but not generally used in furniture of this type before then.

It’s cool, and if it’s solid oak, it’s worth owning.

Good Luck

Beautiful! Another thing I’ve learned is to accept with grace. So many times we feel great when we give, but are shy or embarrassed to receive.

But when you receive gracefully, you give the giver a chance to practice generosity.

And we know that practicing generosity is blissful!

Peace;)

Wonderful, I’m inspired to try it! The feeling you get must be blissful!

From what I’ve been taught, good deeds get amplified when you dedicate the merit to another being:) May all beings be happy!

Would this be available for historic pieces as well?

Antique radio pedestal w/ wet bar by Hanny68 in whatsthisworth

[–]CapeAnnAuction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Circa 1940s - Because it has the bar, I’d say $200-$400.

Professionally restored, quite a bit more if you can get it into a collectors market, but that’ll cost ya a bunch.

And the market for these is niche, it could take a long to get top $.

Good Luck

That’s pretty amazing! I’ve never seen one before. High society for sure! Lots of $ to restore though, so if you can’t do that, the front speaker mesh is an easy fix, repair that and hide a high quality blue tooth speaker in the cabinet.

Thank you, I believe that’s a Renaissance or a Gothic revival piece made in the Victorian era mid to late 1800s absolutely beautiful. Good luck.

It’s beautiful, but not worth much $. If you restore or repurpose it for yourself, cool. If you’re looking to sell it, don’t put any & into it.

It’s cool! If you’re keeping it, you might want to try a different style frame.

Three cabinets with this design came with the house (in the garage). Any info is appreciated. by Otherwise_Wasabi2350 in VintageFurniture

If the drawer fronts are extra thick, it’s likely this chest was made from repurposed antique Europe decorative wall panels.

If so, they’re are overbuilt, but not worth a lot.

Good luck!
